If my memory still works right the Texas 4000 is a ride from Texas to Alaska, that is sponsored by the UT cycling association. It is pretty loosely run, if memory serves right.

the presenting sponsor is Sense Corp, with various other sponsors. Back in my day, UT had nothing to do with TX4000 (not by our choice) and denied us use of the Longhorn, which kind of pissed me off. Austin to Anchorage, via 2 routes.

Texas 4000 is in fact a ride from Austin to Anchorage. Our presenting partner is now LIVESTRONG. Each rider is required to fundraise a minimum of $4,500 to participate in the ride and this money is then donated to cancer research at places like M.D. Anderson, UT BME, LIVESTRONG and more. The riders present programs throughout the year and the ride to raise awareness for early detection and the need for fundraising. More information can be found at Texas4000.org.
