    Welcome!

On behalf of the Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club, welcome to our new forum. Anyone can post here; we have a few guidelines we'd like to have followed.

Any bike or club related questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, rides, events, races, etc. can be posted here.

We request that non-bike related stuff be posted on the Austin VooDoo board; this includes lewd comments, name calling, pornography, etc. Inappropriate material will be moved either to the Smack forums or to Austin VooDoo.

Please respect each other and the Austin Ridge Riders by adhering to these rules at all times.

You've come to the right place for guidance on trails/camping/etc., but you might want to post a new topic rather than replying to this sticky Welcome post. There are probably lots of regular posters who ignore the sticky posts at the top because they are always there. Just post a new topic in the Austin Ridge Riders forum or the Voodoo forum (it gets a little more traffic).

There are many riding options in and around Austin. Go here http://www.austinbike.com to see pictures, descriptions and post ride beverage recomendations. Post up when you head this way and folks will be willing to play tour guide for you.

Just sent in my dues to join the club today. I just moved from Southern California about 7 months ago for work and decided that I needed to start riding again. I am looking to meet up with people to ride as I lost all fellow riding friends when moving out here.

Make sure to check out the Voodoo forum. It tends to get a little more traffic and that's where you're going to see most of the ride calls.

I'm moving to the Johnson City area from Waco and was wondering if there are a group of riders out here. I also am interested in building trail, I have close to 7yrs of trail building. If there is a network of rider out here how can I get in contact with them.

    Happy trails,
    Mike.

    Hi Mike,
You will love this area for biking and trailbuilding both. You need to post on VooDoo, where there is more action. You can meet folks on Sunday mornings, 9:30 at Walnut Creek, Tuesday evenings (R & I thread) at WC around 6, or go to meetup.com where other weekly rides are posted. Johnson City will be closer to Pace Bend Park, which you would like. All the other advice in this thread is still current.

    Happy trails,

Get involved with the Austin Ridge Riders Trails program. We have a ton of trail work and new trail going in all the time. Our last project was just up the road in Burnet. We also have a lot going on at Reimers Ranch which is just East of Johnson City.

You might want to see if you can get a relationship developed with Pedernales Falls State Park. There is a ton of potential for some great mountain bike trails there given the right relationship and a local advocate.
