    Texas Action Park

I am going to build a recreation park just north of Jonestown. It will have Mountain Biking, Alpine Slide, camping, and a chair lift for taking bikes and alpine slide sleds to the top of the hill.

We are still in the planning and gathering investor stage.

I would like your thoughts on the concept. We will have different levels of mountain biking with hopefully close to 10 miles of rides.

    Thanks,

    Joe

I just became addicted to downhill mtb'ing a couple of weeks ago during a trip to Whistler. I'd love it, bring as many friends as I could if it was done well...though w/o seeing the property I wonder how you'd get enough elevation change to really make for much downhilling?

For me, I would like some sort of veloway instead of mountain biking course. Even though I would say I am a mountain biker first, roadie second. I refuse to ride the roads anymore on public streets. It's too scary, but I love my road bike. A veloway would be a Godsend up here. That would be awesome.

---->I wish somebody would build a dang water park up here. Not that your idea isn't great, we just need something better than Volente Beach and closer than Schlitterbahn. You can't even go to Schlitterbahn on the weekends without having to wait in 2+ hour lines. And Volente Beach sux.

We will have about 250 feet elevation difference. It will not be near the experience of a ski resort but it should be fun with some challenges.

Do you think you'll have rental bikes? I doubt many people around here have true DH bikes so it might be nice to have a few available for people to rent. Just a thought... Sounds like a cool idea. I had never even heard of Alpine Sliding before I read your post!

Tony Boone built the some of the trails at Bar H when he was cutting his teeth on the Sweco. I hope to work with him one of these days.

We will probably try and partner with a local bike shop for this but we will have them.

The name of this place is Texas ACTION Park, not much action going down on a veloway.

Be interesting if they had a high-speed veloway with banked turns like BMX!

Well, I hope you'll consider giving us a call when the time comes. I'm one of the owners of Spin City Cycling. We carry Iron Horse bikes which have a nice line-up of DH/Freeride bikes. I don't want to misuse the forum here for self-promotion, but it sounds like a cool project and we'd be stoked to be involved.
