New ARR Trail Work Day for Saturday 10/14/2017. More details here - https://www.meetup.com/mountainbikes...nts/244117457/

This is continuing work along East Williamson Creek Greenbelt.

Link has been updated and appears to be working. Just in case, here is the text from Meetup -

Help the Austin Ridge Riders build the newest natural surface hike and bike trail in Austin. We will be clearing the trail tread through the East Williamson Creek Greenbelt. Note that the meeting location is on a residential street with limited parking.

Meet and park on Creek Bend Drive near 4907 Creek Bend. If you are late, go to the the short dead end street to the south, go thru the gate and follow the trail to the right. (We have cleared the tread here but it is getting over grown again.) After you cross the creek (about a 1/2 mile) turn right again to continue west. We will be working in that general area. If we make good progress, we might be 1/4 to 1/2 mile to the west of the creek crossing. Depending on turnout we may clear roots and limbs (move fast) or bench cut the tread (move slow). This will be heavy work. It is not appropriate for small children.

Wear closed toe shoes because we will be digging in the ground. Bring water (camelback or water bottle) and gloves if you have them. ARR will provide tools (pick, shovel, lopers, etc.) Bring your own tools if you prefer your own tools. There is lots of poison ivy, chiggers and mosquito - dress accordingly.

For the TMBRA racers - this work cay is eligible for Pay Dirt hours for the 2018 season. Bring your Pay Dirt form.

New Walnut Creek Trail Workday posted on Meetup for Saturday 11/11/2017. HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Apologies for the last minute cancellation. We are trying to get the word out everywhere.

Help the Austin Ridge Riders Trail Crew correct the erosion problem at the Tar Branch Crossing (EMS location 300 on the Walnut Creek Park trail map). Meet at the parking lot end of the big sidewalk at 9:00 AM. We will hike to the Tar Branch Crossing. A large group should have most of the heavy work moving rock on 11/9 and 11/10. This work day is to finish the moving smaller rocks and smoothing the new tread surface. Wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Bring water (Camelbak or water bottle) and gloves if you have them. ARR will provide tools (shovels, buckets, etc.) and some gloves.

The erosion control work is similar to what was done at the Main Creek Crossing in the Spring of 2017. (The Main Creek Crossing is at location 236 on the Walnut Creek trail map.) The City of Austin has requested this erosion control work so they do not have to close that section of trail.

For the TMBRA racers who need PayDirt hours - bring a PayDirt form. Don't you want to get your PayDirt hours done before the deadline for 2018?

New Reimer's Ranch Trail Workday on Saturday 11/18/2017

Help the Austin Ridge Riders Trail Crew clean up the trail and keep it in shape for riding. This is planned as a work day for NICA (high school) racers. Wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Bring water (Camelbak or water bottle) and gloves if you have them. ARR will provide tools (lopers, saws, shovels, buckets, etc.) and some gloves.

This will be a very special event as Stanley's Farmhouse Pizza is planning to bring their pizza truck to feed the work crew. Make sure you RSVP so we can give your name to the entry gate so they let you in without paying.

You MUST RSVP to get in without paying the entrance fee. Travis County is very clear that in order to get in free - they have to have your name on their list of volunteers.

The exact work is still being planned (will be posted soon). We expect to be trimming branches off the trail, trimming grass / weeds of the trail, filling holes in the trail tread, and similar work. We will divide up into smaller groups and sending each group to a work location.

We are posting this long before the weather forecast is known. Check back here before you drive out. We will postpone if the weather turns bad.

For the TMBRA racers who need PayDirt hours - bring a PayDirt form. Don't you want to get your PayDirt hours done before the deadline for 2018? Same for NICA racers - bring your sign-off forms so we can get you credit for your work.

New ARR Trail Work Day for Saturday 12/9/2017. More details on Meetup.com under Austin Mountain Bikers - https://www.meetup.com/mountainbikes...nts/245716272/

This is continuing work along East Williamson Creek Greenbelt.

    Here is info -

Help the Austin Ridge Riders build the newest natural surface hike and bike trail in Austin. We will be clearing the trail tread through the East Williamson Creek Greenbelt. Note that the meeting location is on a residential street with limited parking. We got permission to access the trail thru a neighbor's yard so we will meet at the intersection of Wagon Bend and Broken Spoke.

Meet and park on Wagon Bend or Broken Spoke. These are residential streets so parking is limited. If we are not there, look for a phone number on the dash of a gold Ford pickup parked nearby. Call me and I will come get you.

Where can we find local Pay Dirt opportunities? Could there be a logical central location for that info to be posted? (TMBRA "Texas Trail Workdays" forum? ARR site?) Thanks!

Join the meetup.com group to be notified more often about opportunities.

Other trail system opportunities must be found typically from those sources.

Brushy creek - Here on mojo,
Other private ranches will post this on their websites, or the corresponding group such as Ghorba or Dorba will post. You can Join their group pages on facebok and such, but there is no aggregator since this is all over texas where you could get paydirt.

Pay Dirt opportunity at Slaughter Creek Trail (South Austin) on 3/17/2018.

We are starting to schedule regular work days so everyone can get their PayDirt by the deadline. This one is in south Austin. There will be workdays north, south, east and west. Some work days may get you a preview of yet to be opened trails ;-)

We need a second pickup truck to haul dirt. If you don't mind getting your truck dirty - we could use your help.

You mention East. Is there a time frame on Roy Guerro?

I'm Also interested in trail steward opportunity, flagging and pre-trimming, etc.

Had a great work day at Slaughter Creek yesterday... Good turnout of enthusiastic folks... Thanks for organizing these days ARR, and for keeping things moving forward for us in the Austin mtb community.

Pay Dirt Opportunity on Wednesday evening 3/21/18. We are building a new entrance trail at the Spyglass entrance of the Barton Creek Greenbelt. More info on Meetup.

The post on Meetup shows starting at 5:00 and ending at 8:00. Most people will have trouble getting there at 5:00. Come whenever you can get there. We posted the end time at 8:00 so people could possible get in 3 hours of PayDirt. That is ~30 minutes after dark. So bring a head light if you want to work until 8:00.

Bring your PayDirt form and come and go as you need to. We will sign you form for however long you work (in 15 minute increments).
