    Paint crosses on BCGB?

Anyone know what's with the white paint crosses or x's that appeared on main trail? They seem to mark any side trail that branches off main course. Paint looks pretty fresh.

Don't know, but I saw some red flags on my normal route. Not sure what those mean, but not construction flags at all.

Probably the Hash House Harriers - yesterday's run started from the Violet Crown trailhead by Spec's. In which case, it's flour, not paint.

I meant paint in the generic sense - should have said "markings". I did not actually touch it. The crosses were pretty professional looking, that's why I was thinking maybe some kind of survey markings vs. event markers. There are even some on a trail off 360 that heads down on the left from the new bridge. It didn't seem to be a part of a racecourse.

The hashers are trail runners, not racers. Were the crosses generally at intersections? Did you see white blobs anyplace else on the trail?

Yeah, they appeared to "mark" the side trails. There were a couple "blobs" as well, but they didn't seem to mark anything in particular. I was just curious and figured someone here would probably have an idea on what they were.

The next rain will wash it away, if the ants don't eat it first. Just harmless fun. BTW the crosses are 'checks', where you have to hunt around until you find the marks again. Eventually they lead you to beer. So if you see em on a Sunday, it's worth following them!

So squirt them away with waterbottles, and watch the fun begin?

These fucking tards splatter shit at every intersection in the dead of summer and wait for the rain? It's a fucking mess. I've been seeing this shit for years and years, and those fucking 'biodegradable marks' last for months. Bunch of self-important pricks.

The hashers use plain ol' generic baking flour. Wind, tires, mice, etc make it disappear before it rains. that "biodegradable" spray chalk and other markings that is some other group.

I'm talking about big-ass white flour X's and subsequent dots splattered across intersections, rocks, and roots. I don't know how these assholes think they have license to spray mess all over a wilderness area but seriously, fuck them. It doesn't 'disappear' - I ride by the same flour covered rocks for months.

They also do it on private property, just further evidence that they're a bag of dicks.

Yeah man, leave no trace! Except for the 6 foot wide swathe running through the woods that we used to get out there. And those bag of dog poop, cause who wants to carry that around.
