Come off the track and pull the towel out of the ice water put it over your head and drink a f ton of water... done a few of those on the plus side never had to worry about bringing the tires up to temp from one session to the next.

Oddly, I felt compelled to do just that. Now I'm really, really sorry.

    Make yourself a chiller, STAT!

Finished up my 3 hour GB ride yesterday and my remaining water was still cold:

I can still hear Dave Wonders' voice saying that.

Pros: 1) had Walnut to ourselves this afternoon. 2) After ride beer is even more refreshing
Cons 1) more dog crap bags than ever (why????) 2) low cougar attack potential

I hit that wall this weekend. With about 8 miles to go on a lap of Georgetown, I was hit with heat shivers and stopped sweating. Dewayne and I limped into Hogg park and loaded up on water and hosed water over my head. Even with hitting that wall, we turned a 3 hour lap! Without that, we coulda pulled a serious sub 3.

Reminds me of an old Dirt Rider/Dirt Bike magazine article about hot weather riding. The key takeaway I remember is that the pro's don't just gulp it down during and after a race/ride they hydrate well for a few days leading up to a race. As others have mentioned it takes awhile to recover from dehydration but dehydration starts much earlier than people think. In Scouts we were taught 2 things: 1) If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. 2) Be Clear and Copious (your pee).

Just lucky it happened between Russell and Hogg, so I could stop at the guardshack. Hate to think if it happened on the southside.
