    Diamondback Release 5 Carbon

Anyone have experience with this bike? I was looking at it last night and was blown away by the build you get for the price. All the reviews I've read about it are good as well. The only thing that concerns me is that it doesn't come in a 29 for some reason. I have a 27 plus hardtail, but my 29 full suspension seems to get over obstacles a little easier. Being that this would be a bike I'd keep for quite some time, I don't want to have buyer's remorse. Also, is 150 travel in the front and 130 in the back too much for around here? I'm currently rolling a specialized camber with 110 in the front and rear and ride all of Brushy, City Park, Reveille, etc on it. Thanks!

Seth's Bike Hacks has one, he seems to like it. He's also a DB sponsored rider FWIW, so keep that in mind with his review on the release.

I have a Catch 2 which is almost the same bike in 27.5+, but I only have about 30-35 miles on it before I broke myself and will be off for ~3-4 more months. From my limited time on the Catch 2, the geo pedals well, climbed in the open position fine, and I was using all the travel (130/120 on 27.5+, so the release has a little more) without bottoming on Brushy so seemed to be a pretty good fit for me. My only complaint on the Catch 2 is that the bike feels pretty heavy, but it is an Al frame, and the blanchard 38R wheels and the 27.5+ tubes/tires are all major factors there.

In all I would definitely buy my bike again.

It's basically a DW-link right? If it handles anything like a pivot that's pretty good. If they made it in a 29'er that bike would be on the short list.

Everybody rides a bike with too much travel around here anyway. Just embrace it.

That's right, DB calls it the Level Link, but same idea. The Catch (the plus bike version of the release) is boost standard, and "should" be able to run 29er wheelset (though I haven't checked myself).

I didn't know they built higher-end bikes like this. Here's a link to the bike on their site:

I have a release 2 and my only nit pick is not having 29” wheels. Trade off is being more nimble. SuperSlow is right, the catch can run 29, I verified that with Diamondback when I was asking about a 29 release.

    Truth!

Seth gives his the beat down on a regular basis, but as mentioned hes sponsored. I'd give the outlet section of intense bikes a look before going DB.

For some reason the medium on the Jeffsy comes with a 150mm travel post which will mean when fully extended it'll be too big for me. I called to request that the 125mm travel post they use on the small be subbed in and they said no. I would think most people ordering the medium would have the same issue. Very odd indeed.

nice bike, a 5c is still $550 less if you look in the right places but that YT looks nice. I have a catch 2, climbs good and has a pike, gx components 1 x 11, 150mm dropper and you can find it under 2k

Where'd you find the 5c for $550 less? Websites show $4,800 vs $5k.

Diamondback and Raleigh have a "corporate discount" program and you can find ways to get onto it. I show just shy of $4k for the Release 5 carbon through my corporate discount.Name: 2018-06-29_1511.png

Does it show in stock? My friend tried to use his pro code and it took it down to $3,300 but none in stock. How can one get his hands on this corporate code that is needed to register?

Also, if you're an ARR member, you can sign up for a ExpertVoice(ExpertiCity) account for free, and it looks like they're even cheaper on there!

Nice congrats. Mine shipped and was at my house in 2 days (ordered 8am on a Monday, at my house at 11am on Wednesday, had it out for a shake down by noon and back on the clock for a meeting at 1pm).
