As for the "natural" black trails, does that translate to non-machine cut technical singletrack? I have dreams of pounding down something like "Mountain Goat" at Trestle... just shorter, of course, or RPR Super D with a lift (gah, how awesome would that be)...
The speed you hit towards the bottoms makes it a more advanced trail. You can drag your brakes and it's totally safe. Try to push the pace and it gets a little spicy...

The blacks are slated to be a mix of everything. Raw "rake-n-ride" sections, some hand cut bench and a little machine work.

I scanned the thread and I didn't see if anyone confirmed that the lift is in yet. Is it?

If not, when is it scheduled?

Do they provide shuttles in the interim?

    I'm excited for this place.

    Thanks!

    1) I am excited at the prospect of having a lift operated hill "nearby"
    2) I wonder how this can possibly be cost effective vs buying some E350 vans with Northshore racks
    3) This will definitely attract more DH riders with lifts than without, but are their really enough 'round these parts to support this?
    4) For Reference, this used to be an after work ride for me (1 Lap). Guys who were in decent shape (not me) would do it 2-3 times before sunset. They would have gladly taken a lift had it been available but they didn't need one.

Year-round lift access gravity riding on weather resistant trails in a location that has no other shuttle or lift options within a 10 hr drive (and further for people coming in from Houston etc.)...

I think it could work. Are there any other bike parks that operate year-round? I think they could even pull in some riders from NM, CO, etc. that can't ride the park in the winter months. It also could be a huge boon for Burnet if they play their cards right with 2 premier riding destinations in town.

Make it coin operated ftw. Load bike, take a seat. Drop two shiny quarters in the slot. Woooosh!

A lift with no operators could be no bueno. The ski patrol had to help me and a bunch of others rappel off the Lincoln lift at Ski Apache one day when it broke. They gave me a free hot dog for my trouble. Also, there is that movie (I think it's called Frozen or something) where the people get stuck on the lift after the resort has closed. They ultimately jumped off, broke their legs and got eaten by wolves.

There's a far greater chance of getting attacked by a cougar in Steiner Ranch than a wolf in Burnet County. Just sayin.

Are you saying there are a lot of single, older ladies in the Steiner area? ;-)

If they can't afford Wolves, I can lend out a couple of Beagles to get started

    2. There is a much larger plan for the property and bikes are just a part of it. We are primarily focused on building our trails and then racing the crap out of them. The larger business plan has not been fully revealed to us.

    3. Yes, demand is high. There are roughly 18 million people within the DFW-Houston-SA triangle. The first TX enduro in 2014 had about 70 people. Last year, our biggest race had 225. Gravity and NICA are the only major growth areas in MTB right now. Folks that have held off on buying a bigger bike can now justify it. More big bikes = more big lines. Its gonna take a few years...but the winds are changing....

I think I saw that movie. It was because Queen Elsa accidentally started an eternal winter. There were wolves, a talking snowman, and lesson of sisterly love.

For those wondering, NICA is National Interscholastic Cycling Association (I had to look it up).

Both my girls raced NICA and the turnout seemed to be pretty strong at each race
