We rode out there on Sunday morning as well and the prescribed burn definitely ran through several parts of WW.

When we made it to the section just before Powerline (800 on the map) there was still a lot of smoke in the area that was close to the ground.

We saw signs about the prescribed burn on the trail and evidence of vehicles up by the Well so we made the assumption that the situation was under control. Bet that's the area that flared up again...

Is there a real reason that these prescribed burns happen during periods of extreme fire risk? I mean really, do they actually aim for the driest part of the year so it burns better?

I remember thinking this last year when they were doing one at Reimer's. "There's a burn ban on for us where we can't even have a fire in a contained fire pit, but they are purposely going to set several acres of public park on fire right now??"

Isn't Gold Bond good for flare ups?

I was out there (a lot) the night of the fire. I went back Tuesday afternoon (without bike) and drove up the Well Road all the way. It’s hard to distinguish flare up vs. prescribed burn and (sadly) I didn’t get on much trail. I plan to get out Saturday and start cleaning up, but I’m leaving for AF on Sunday. Sorry I don’t have any more intel.

I’m sure there are some downed trees, but I don’t know exactly where yet. I think I know where to start. I’m (gambling) hoping to start clearing this afternoon without a recon ride. I know where was most affected (between the WOOkie Quarry, RGOG, and Well Worth It).

I rode The Madrone Trail after there was a fire out on that peninsula. It was cool in a scorched earth kind of way.

Wookie Way is 100% clear and the RGOG got a facelift. The rest of the PB trail system was unaffected by the fire.
