heya Jeff B - time for a night ride!!

i just converted my 15 watt 6 volt helmet light to a 35 watt 12 volt setup. lets go for a night ride!

the conversion only cost me $14... $5 for the bulb at Lowes and $9 for a 12 volt 7 amp hr closeout battery at Altex.

anyway, i want to see how it compares to that monster light you have.

it looks like they rate the HIDs as being equivalent to a 40 watt halogen so hopefully my 35 watt setup will be almost as bright as the HIDs for about $300 dollars less...

course the HIDs still kill me on burntime and battery weight.. 4 hrs vs about 2.5 hrs, and around 2 lbs vs 5 lbs... but hey, for $14 i can't complain....

I will be working 14 to16hrs a day for the next two weeks.
    So no riding for me

Your light set up sounds cool and we can make a battery that will last and weight about 2lbs but it will cost about 140 bucks.
    Love to MoTo

forget $140 for a battery! i never night ride longer than 2 hours anyway... the lead acid works for me... and at 225lbs it'd be a lot cheaper for me to lose 3 pounds than for the battery sitting in my camelbak to lose 3 lbs

i'll catch up with you in a couple of weeks!
