    Angry 'Zoke Z1FR/rack compatability...

I just found out, the hardway, that my new Z1 fork won't work with my Yakima rack tray 'cause the Yak skewer is not long enough.

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it? I'm aware of hurricane components and their products, but they are not lockable.
Does anyone have any experience w/ the Yak. King Cobra mount?

    Thanks~ Scary

I have the Yakima Boa mounts and they worked fine with the '03 Z1 FR SL that Charles loaned me for a couple weeks.

    It's not a tray-mount, but it worked.

Takes the same lock cores as all Yak stuff.

King Cobra works fine from what I can tell watching it in use on my sister's car. Can you just buy the replacable locking skewer that Yakima sells? They fit my 02 Z.1 FR.

The '02 and '03 zoke lowers ARE a bit different, the '03 have more material, almost flared at the bottom. Made it so the skewers only work in one orientation on my Boa for that Z1 FR SL I mentioned, and for a friends '03 MX Comp - but for my old '02 MX Comp it was less finicky.

Thumbs up solved for 120 bucks

I just got back from Bike World. They have the solution, for $120 dollars. The Yakima 'Viper' works for the Z1, I am now the 'happy' owner of a new Viper.

Strangely enough, Yakima's tech support people told me the Viper wouldn't work w/ the Z1 when I called earlier, but I wasn't sure they knew what I was talking about. I was right, they had no idea.
