MTB Scene - Tucson or Las Cruces - Any Opinions?

I'm talking to some folks about potential job opportunities in Tucson and Las Cruces. Any knowledge of the MTB scene in either of these locations that can be shared?

Not familiar with anything in Tucson, but ride Las Cruces/El Paso area whenever we go out to El Paso to visit the inlaws. Lots of riding in the Franklin Mountains, and it appears to be growing. Most of it is pretty rocky, with plenty of elevation change. They have some really wicked looking tech stuff up the hill from UTEP. The Rough Riders have some pretty ridiculous looking stuff over on the east side as well. Look them up, also here's a site with some of the more popular stuff around El Paso/Las Cruces Mountain Bike Trails and Routes in El Paso, TX | GeoBetty - You are on the right track. Borderlands Mountain Bike Association is that areas version of ARR. https://www.facebook.com/Borderland-...-128724738749/

Planning a trip to tucson to see family this fall. Been there a few times and would prefer that over new mexico. In fact i'd rather rip my d@ck off and throw it in the river before returning to the land of enchantment ........

Google Mt Lemmon "full lemmon drop"...thats our next ride when we go

I also forgot to add, I would rather sodomize a porcupine with herpes before I would live in Las Cruces, but hey, some folks are into that kind of thing

There is some serious, killer riding in Tucson, by itself... then there's Phoenix not too far away for some of the best riding anywhere. Mt Lemmon trails are high enough elevation for summer riding, then there's Globe, etc... oh, and if you ski, you can do that on Lemmon, too. It's also pretty cool to be just a few hours from the coast...

I haven't ridden in Las Cruces, mainly because I haven't found much worth stopping for (I drive through pretty frequenly on my way to Phoenix... to ride). Looking at the Organ mts, you'd think there has to be some epic trail, but I haven't found it online yet.

Thanks for all of the feedback. Sounds like Tucson is definitely worth looking into.

I rode ~20 miles worth of Catalina Park in 2009- If I had known the area better could have ridden easily 10 more or the same and entered at a better spot. The out/ back spot I went out to ride was really a fun natural bowl area with lots of different lines to ride it.

What I saw out there was just wide open desert riding- Im sure there are more and different options.
