Any peeps in ATX do the CTR?

I just noticed my buddy in Houston finished like in 20th place! Pretty solid for a flatlander. Looks like the winner was on a SS. That's insane!

SS'ers have won the CTR multiple times. Kevin Thomas 2011, Jefe Branham 2012 2013 and 2016(excluding Neil B's ITT). This was the first year a non Colorado resident won, and he was on a SS. These guys are insane! I can't think of any advantages to riding the CTR on one gear, yet somehow they have pulled multiple first place finishes.

Weather conditions were really good this year, which is pretty rare. Still, no records were set. Here are a few of the current records. For those unfamiliar, the CTR is currently ~540 miles with ~70,000' of climbing.

03:19:54 - Neil Beltchenko 2016 ITT current record
    03:20:44 - Jesse Jakomait 2015
    04:04:17 - Jefe SS 2013
Currently 3.0". With hard work and dedication I hope to see 2.8" maybe even 2.6"

Ive bikepacked all of thr CT except 2.5 segments. Its brutally hard. Even at a modest pace. I dont see me foing it anymore. There are too many other places i want to visit. Next summer I will be doing the 3 rivers 3 sisters route with some buddies. With gears, and 3.0 tires.

I rode several trails that ended up being part of that route, you're in for a treat my friend! I wish Oregon was closer, so much amazing stuff up there.

Rode segments of the CT today and yesterday. The Strava times for the top 10 are hours faster than me, and still the whole thing as fast as those guys go is insane.
