Best place around Campus for beer/Dinner

Taking a friend who likes wide array of beer out for his 21st tomorrow. Want to do dinner as well so decent food good beer would be preferable.

    Suggestions?

    Flying Saucer, Gingerman? Others?

The G-Man doesn't really have much of a menu, so I would pick Flying Saucer out of those two. The Draught House has a great selection of beer, but no food. You could have a few pints there, then head up to Billy's on Burnett and get your grub on.

All time fave around campus would be the Crown and Anchor if you're not looking for fancy. They have pretty good beer selection and the price is nice. Another option is Dog and Duck (not cheap tho).

This is way down south, but Doc's Backyard down off Brodie and 290 is a pretty cool place. Nice beer selection and the food is pretty damn good (1/2 price burgers on Monday).

If hes of the Frat persuasion, flying saucer. I think some of their patrons choose beer based on whether it comes in a "cool" glass. Otherwise, Gingerman.

Wait, he's just turning 21 and "likes wide array of beer"? He certainly hasn't been drinking illegally, has he?

No I normally just let him smell mine. I am sure he has never so much as let one touch his lips.

It's pint night tonight at the Saucer. The food is pretty decent, especially by the standards of a 21 year old. The scenery too.

As long as they are open for x-mas. condos are a good thing - think global live local
Bliss, bliss and heaven... it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh...Oh, it was wonder of wonders... And then, a bird of like rarest spun heavenmetal, or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now...

if you're a little south of campus, dog & duck at guadalupe and 17th is terrific. it's not the same people watching scene, but it's considerably less pretension than the flying saucer. nobody dresses up just to go there. it's very cool.
