Advance Warning - Road Trip - Arizona in March

MTBR Arizona Spring Fling 2009 dates have been set.

    March 18-22.

Not a lot of info yet, but for previous info, follow this link.

I'm currently planning on making it a 5-day weekend. Three days of solid riding + 1 short night ride the first night (maybe).

Just go search on MTBR forums for "AZSF" for more info and previous threads, if curious.

    This is just a warning.

You will now be returned to your regular programming. If this had been an actual Road Trip alert, you would be provided with more timely and accurate information, in addition to relentless taunting.

My M.O. is to either camp, or to appeal to the kindness of others.

Last year, I managed to score living room camping space for me and Nando every night. So, easy camp setup/teardown, hot showers and coffee every day.

2nd location had jacuzzi and pool, but I can't claim to have access to that again, particularly not this far out.

If/when you get serious about going, we either need to form a group camping plan, or just individually go beg on the AZ forum on MTBR and see who volunteers to host visitors from out of town. Earlier beg'd the better.

addendum: temperatures are usually conducive to pleasant camping, but it could get chilly at altitude if you end up spending a night up in Sedona or Flagstaff.

I have wanted to do the Spring Fling gathering for years.
I did manage to go to Replay by the Bay in '99.

I'm putting in for 18-20, and 23rd, so drive on 18/23, and three-point-two days of back-2-back riding.

Bring the Mrs, send her to Sedona and Scottsdale for upscale shopping and "spa" days.

    Really.

    I'm *not* kidding.

    Work it out.

Depending on how my new job goes I may try to put in for a few days up there. Hell I may try and schedule a "meeting" up there as ABQ is an expansion market right now they are going after heavily. And just fly back on Sunday evening from some hub around there.

It's in Tucson. You're thinking Phoenix...

But really, that time of year, it's mild enough to camp and easy to take advantage of it... but hot showers ARE quite nice afterward, so that would be a facility requirement.

    Sugar, it's "all over"

Rides happen in different towns on different days, Phoenix/Mesa is pretty central to the whole thing. Worst case drive from there would be like going out to Comfort for the day (to hit Tuscon or Sedona/Flagstaff). Lots of stuff near Phoenix/Mesa you'd love though, seriously. Desert Classic on South Mountain park and the Hawes trail networks come to mind.
