It was actually quite sore by the time I got home. I tried to take a nap laying on my stomach and it hurt a bit too much. Still hurts if I sneeze or cough a little bit too. I guess I hit harder than I thought but at least it is feeling better.

Or maybe the implication is that I should be wearing more

So I wore knee/shin armor on the trails for the first time today...and rode Thumper in by far my fastest time to date. But, at the end of the lap, there was nary a scratch on them - just a bit of dust and residue from the creek crossings. Slow as I am, I've never escaped Thumper with at least some form of scratch, bruise and/or blood donation. Today, I'm Mr Clean.

Just a coincidence, or does armor aid one mentally as well as physically?

Both. I know Casey feels much more comfortable wearing her armor (as do I since I'm the trail side medic) when she's riding. I seem to remember Iain mentioning something about feeling more confidant whilst wearing armor.

I might pick some up at some point. What kind did you have?

Fox shin/knee guards - $14.95 at REI. I shaved almost 15 minutes off my Thumper lap time yesterday. I didn't realize I was purchasing a buck-per-minute upgrade. I might have to go get a full-face helmet so I can really fly!
