    Does anyone know...

the best way to rehab a twisted/sprained ankle???
As I'm sitting here relaxing after a great ride I can't
help but notice the increasingly intense throbbing
taking place at the end of my right leg.

I know to keep it elevated, ice it on and off at 10/15
    minute intervals, avoid pressure, etc.

Any other useful tips or techniques...I want to enjoy
my ride out at Rocky Hill this Sunday

Put some RICE and whiskey on it....'bout all you can do.

take some IBProfun for it. Not much else you can really do for a sprained ankle other than the icing that you're already doing. You could try to do some light stretching exercises so it doesn't get completely tight as well. And if you want to ride I've got a pretty stout ankle brace from when I royally blew out my ankle.

thanks guys...if only i liked whiskey

The ibuprofen hasn't kicked in yet and the ice is at least
making the current pain tolerable. You're definitely right
about the stretching. I got out of the shower and made
some food, it was sore but fine. But by the time I finished
eating and got up to wash my dishes (15 minutes tops)
I was greeted by a searing pain shooting up my leg...I
ended up hopping to the kitchen. Crazy how fast something
goes from a minor annoyance to genuine pain.

You might want to get that x-rayed. A sprained ankle will usually hurt but not cause "searing pain;" that's usually your body telling you that something is wrong.

Trust me, I'm experienced in these sort of things.

I hear ya...but it already feels loads better after some
ice and elevation. I've got it wrapped up and it feels
all good. The "searing pain" was probably more from
not knowing how much it had tightened up & then
standing and walking as if nothing was wrong...I kind
of did a twisting motion which is exactly what I should
    not be doing right now.

after your done with the RICE, do your ABCs by tracing each letter in the air with your big toe to build strength.

just a little tip from your Uncle Lar'.

    Stress Fracture

If you have insurance, use it!

You are setting yourself up for a more severe injury if you have a stress fracture. You don't want to waste valuable healing time. What can it hurt to find out? Good luck figuring it out.

I sprained my ankle badly the day before my first varsity golf tournament. Like, tennis ball size. Nothing helped it. The next morning, after the first few holes, I found my ankle was feeling better and was moving and could bear weight. Since then, if I tweak an ankle, I pop some Aleve and do the ABC thing, or walk on it. Whatever it takes to keep it from getting stiff.

I've always had issues with my ankles.

    Bingo. Do the ABCs religiously.
