Unhappy Bad broken ankle juju at root drop today

Saw some paramedics treating a compound fracture of the lower leg at the root drop today. I hope the guy is alright. I must say that Austin Fire and Rescue do a great job. I was really impressed.

Thanks for the update. We were in the Walnut parking lot wrapping up "It's My Park Day" and saw EMS and Austin Fire Dept come roaring in and heard that it was a Root Drop injury. They deployed a very cool single-wheeled gurney with an EMS person at either end -- kind of a push-me/pull you affair.

must have been that giant snake that coils up under the root that got him. seriously, hope they heal up soon.

I was there riding, heard the sirens, and saw the emergency crews at the lot waiting for them to get the victim back. Heard it was at the root drop.

Sounds like a bad break. Hope it's not.

I was in the parking lot fixin' to ride when the paramedics pulled in. The first thing I thought of was the root drop. The "trail" gurney" was pretty cool.

Leif, don't joke, there is a snake that coils up in the water at the root drop. I see it every time I would night ride. Chevron patteron on a browm/white snake, not sure what it was but it hangs in the water.

    How did it go.

We had a great turnout at BCGB. Got tons done.

On your next BCGB ride on the main trail between the high power lines and the HOL you may notice pink topped stumps where giant Chinaberry trees once stood.

Walnut had a full turnout; the re-vegetation hill side was totally mulched. A small crew (6) went over and started trimming and lopping on the BMX loop exit and worked our way back to the Wall and the pump 'n jump. I think the Bruzed's were there (Russell and the two grommets) and a few others. Lots of XC traffic on the BMX loop today. Surprising how many riders were on that loop in the morning.
Mr. Bug, Mark and Adam worked on assembling a kiosk.

Glad to hear you were successful on the GB.

Apparently a different Adam -- the Adam I am referring to is a high energy blond, about 5' 8", weighs about 145, and has a habit that I find rather endearing of saying anything and everything that crosses his mind. Does that sound like your?

Oh, yeah, he is 15 or 16 or so and comes to the ARR Sunday rides with his astoundingly calm dad
Sorry about the Saturday work days. But then, on some fabulous week day you will be off and riding while I am stuck in a small white room with no window.

Actually, I am considering instituting my personal mental health day one weekday day a month when work settles down.

If the kiosk assembly was complex, it was probably "interesting" having Adam help Mark. He's got TONS of energy. The challenge (I have yet to decipher) is how to keep it focussed.

Yes, apparently after not making too much progress, Mark took them on a field trip to see an already assembled kiosk in situ; after that, things were much easier.

Not to hijack the new direction of this thread...

But did anybody see what happened to the rider? Did they try to ride the old rooted part and stick their foot behind a root? Did they endo and stay clipped in? I'm having a heard time understanding a compound ankle fracture at the root drop.

That root drop seems more like an endo with arm or shoulder injury to me.

Does anybody know who the injured party was?

    What is the prognosis?
