    BCGB Boulder movin, trail blocking

Greetings all, any word on the rather sizeable boulders that are blocking the fun steep climb out of the creek onto the trail just before Gus Fruh? Sorry don't know the name of this feature but I'm sure all of you know it. Is this some sort of erosion control, paydirt gone mad, overactive homeless folks?

i haven't been to that section of the BCGB in a while
so i'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. but
i know last week when i rode past the entrance to
sweet16 across from dragons teeth there were a lot
of new "boulders" that had fallen off the cliff during
the high winds we got when the cold front moved in

    maybe something similar happened there???

    this aint not bouderin accident

This section is (coming from 360 towards park) right before the area where the bike trail is routed across the creek to avoid the climbing area (flintstones). Great little line that we use to train our bike team kids both climbing and descending techniques. These boulders took some energy and ambition to place in their current annoying locations.

Ran into them yesterday. The blocked off trail is right near at the split to gated hiking portion. It is where we saw some dude sprawled out after he hurt his shoulder on a Sunday ride before. Perhaps it's the same person who's been trying to sanitize the Elephant Butt.

Yeah, I thought that was rather odd when i saw that this A.M. I thought about moving them but they're pretty big. Also I noticed somebody put a sign on a tree just after "Elephant Butt" that says "Sore Shoulder." Kinda wacky. Had to do a double take as I went by. Note: New fallen tree at the start of sweet 16 needs to be built up so we can get over it.

Saturday we were on another trail where someone went to great lengths to try and discourage riding. i won't name this trail or even describe it. but if people are so worried about a trail being off limits they should post an explanation or rationale here or in other prominent places where riders frequent. in this case, all their hard work was undone rather quickly.

    those rocks gotta go

sounds like someone's hard work needs to be undone. Really, those rocks blocking the trail took some serious work to get placed there. BCGB - sanitized for your protection.

    so its legit

Just heard from the guy at PARD who manages the greenbelt trails. This new blockage is designed to make bikers go around the tree and not straight down the hill. So the mystery is solved.

That is exactly what needs to happen. There really isn't enough technical features like ladder bridges, skinnies, and teeter-totters around here. I understand why there isn't (liability) but man I wish there were.

Elephant But has been sanitized enough! It's twice as wide as it used to be and the lines have gotten stupidly woosy.

If it ever rains enough to get the Green Slime back to thriving on the Butt it'll take the wussy factor back up a couple of notches toward technical.

Pretty sure I know where this is. Perhaps an erosion control measure?

Expect more changes on BCGB between Zilker and Brodie Ln. This is northern most section of the planned Walk for a Day trail that will connect all the way to Kyle. From what I understand, the portion within BCGB remain natural surface, but most probably there will be alterations to the existing trails.

I have unsanitized the butt at least 3 times. Have fun with that quote.
