    Jingle Bell Ride Northside

Miss the traditional jingle bell ride this year? Join the Austin Ridge Riders for a 5-mile family friendly cruise this Sunday, Dec. 20. Meet at Spicewood Elementary, 11601 Olson Drive Austin, TX 78750 6:30pm, ready to roll at 6:45. The Balcones neighborhood is well known for its light displays and the virtually flat route will make it easy on non-riding spouses and bikes pulling trailers. Adorn those bikes with blinkies and heads with helmets. See you there!

Anybody else doing this? Wouldn't mind going w/the Mrs & kiddo if I knew there was going to be a decent turnout.

I've heard from a dozen or so folks who plan to ride. It's a short ride, great for kids and non-riding spouses. Holiday lights worth seeing. I really loved the Zilker to 37th street ride and am sad that this is no Trail of Lights this year, but this is a worthy Sunday night substitute.

just a brain fart here, but why cant we go caroling while we ride?
ok, sure, we wanna ride and see some cool lighted homes... but why cant we sing?

    hear me out...
ride from house to house. knock on the door, and a bunch of mtb'ers are out singing a christmas carol or two.
helmet and all... just out to enjoy the holiday season.
kinda old school like, when the holidays were for spreading chistmas cheer.....

if ya think its alright, ill print up the lyrics for just about every song for everyone we can gather.
There's an distinct silence as you're flying over your handlebars. You just wish it would never end. Trust me on that.

I'll be there with my son. Is it going to be 7 year old bike friendly or should I bring the tag along bike?

We had a great time too!

That was a great route - our son was mesmerized by the whole experience.

And, for any of you wondering, the reason that I am the one who rides with my son in the wee-ride seat instead of my husband carrying him, it's because I stay at home with our son, and I use it a lot. Besides, I like the added workout.

I hope we do this again next year!

Nice route, we'll definitely be in for next year. They really do go all out in that neighborhood. Great how they all get together and pick a theme for each street.

There was no debating when we got home...kid put on her PJ's and was asleep before I got all the bikes unloaded! She must have pedaled more than I thought.

Great to see such a good turnout tonite. Toddlers to grandpas enjoyed the ride. We'll definitely do this again! Family friendly and longer options, and refreshments. Thanks for coming out. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

My daughter and I loved it. The lights were awesome. We'll be back next year for sure! Next year I think I'll bring something hot to drink and a camera. Oh and decorate the bike!!!
