    The Calvinsbike fundraising thread

    hey,

let's keep the other thread clean with well wishes (so Michael can read them) and move the fundraising stuff here.

TMW is in for a 6-hour at Pace Bend and Reveille Peak will also be in for something. ARR will rally the troops and mojo is a great form of communication for this. please keep the fundraising talk HERE.

    Thanks for opening this up.

TGR/HH is down for hosting a local bike swap meet and food/drinks. We are already working on tentative plans.

Is there a way to make a direct cash donation? I know paypal is easy, but that 3 percent fee will bite you...

    Thumbs up

As already mentioned, I will gladly offer my dental services if needed but would also be willing to donate some cash for his medical costs. Just let me know how I can help.

thread has been stuck and the full force of TMW is behind any fundraising. i already spoke with Reveille Peak's land owner (my boss) and the trails here can be used for an event. Pace Bend would also be a good option, but $10/car. RPR is farther, but there won't be a land access fee for a fundraiser. i can also bring the ranch's trailer smoker and cook at a HH swap meet/meat or whatever we come up with. what i'm basically saying is i'm down for whatever.

i'm almost certain there's a legit way around that that i remember from the Mark Henneke project. anyway, i bet Spinnincin (ARR Treasurer) or someone good with $ could manage cash also.

A way to make donations is in the works. If, however, you send paypal money any other way, you must select "gift", which will circumvent the fee.

I have the Paypal account ready but will hold off if there is a concern about the 3%

I've been talking to some out of towners about the NAHBS Feb 23-27th. Lots of 2 wheel bretheren going to be in town that week. I know they do keg fundraisers at things like Interbike. Any chance we can do something like this at NAHBS? I work a couple of blocks from the convention center so I'd gladly tend the keg an evening or two.

That's great, Scott. This could be an unexpected addition that is being overlooked in the wake of his current injuries.

From what Nando was saying, if you "gift" the money, there's no fee.

Actually there is an email going on right now about how we can put something together to work around the NAHBS.

Nothing confirmed yet, but we are working on maybe something big.

Edit: this is true for personal accounts. To set-up a donation doohickey, however, a Premier, or business account is needed, which charges their fee...

    From the Paypal website:
    Receiving money Personal payments:

It's free to receive money from friends or family in the U.S. when they send the money from the PayPal website using only their PayPal balance or their bank account, or a combination of their PayPal balance and bank account.

If you receive a personal payment made from a debit card or credit card, the sender has the option to pay the fee or pass it on to you. If you don't want to pay the fee, you can choose not to accept the payment.

If the fee is passed to you, it is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive. For example, if you are sent $100.00 USD by credit card, the fee would be $3.20 USD ($2.90 + $0.30).

This fee also applies if you click Request Money on the PayPal website and request money from friends and family. The fee applies if your friend or family member pays you using only their PayPal balance or their bank account, or a combination of their PayPal balance and bank account.

If Michael has a PayPal account we could just "gift" it to him. If not, it could be gifted to my account.

Maybe a hybrid, donation site for bank/PayPal account and Michael's/my account for CC users.

Austinbike.com would be very happy to kick in some cash. If you have a fundraiser event I'll put it on my home page. I drive a lot of traffic and can reach the world beyond mojo.

Just a thought, are there any immediate items that he might need? I know a few of us have had some injuries and during recuperation it's nice to have some special items to help out. I don't know, a special chair, toiletries, etc. Some of that stuff can be pricey but very helpful when you need it.
