    James Clayton released?

Based on a search of the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice inmate register, it looks to me as though our friend James Clayton may have been released from the big house. Just sayin' ...

Maybe he'd like to drop by the next TMW meeting...

There's always the chance he was extradited to one of the other states where he was a wanted criminal.

I'm guessing that's the case. He has a few more crimes to be tried for.

    Clayton, James R
    DOB: 02/19/1967
    Inmate # 266082
James Clayton shows up in a search of the Arizona Department of Corrections inmate locator.
Looks like he was processed through their system and is out on parole. Check out his AZ Dept. of Corrections "facebook" page.
Looks like as of 9/28/2011 he is on "community supervision."

Inmates with concurrent sentences shall serve the longest community supervision term imposed. Inmates with consecutive sentences shall serve each community supervision term imposed consecutively upon release from ADC custody.

I'll bet he doesn't ride any more. Seat probably hurts too much.

This guy is a classic sociopath and will be running some scam wherever his goes.

It appears from the AZ site he is only on community supervision until 01/28/2012? Did he plea down for a lesser charge in Texas? I remember this but not what he finally was convicted of.

Rob D'Amico of the Austin Chronicle did a great job of covering this story and information on the conviction/plea deal is here.

time spent behind bars don't fit the crime, don't see this as much of a deterrent for others to do the same sh*t.

Wow, I had been casually following his status, but didn't catch all this. I thought for sure he'd face some kind of confinement in Arizona. But hey, the legal system and incarceration are expensive. I'm betting they just didn't want to deal with it...which is why they didn't bother to extradite early on. I guess the lesson is that if you're going to steal something, make it a bike.

You could just leave the guy alone, too.

He's paid his debt to society.

And, hopefully he's learned from his mistakes.

Why not leave the "classic sociopath" diagnoses to experts??

Or we could continue to hound the asshole until he’s satisfied is debt with US. Yes, I think I like that option better.

He has only paid his debt on *some* of the charges, he has not paid his debt on all of the charges.

And, as a repeat offender that has spent time in jail on multiple occasions, do you think he "learned his lesson" and will never go back to a life of crime?

I'll take the under on that bet.
