all you have to do ruin a sweet single track is to organize a race and to turn peope loose w a bobcat and chainsaws. cutting down about 20 twisted live oaks at top? really? absolutely pathetic. I'd be ashamed if I was responsible for that hatchet job.

the first mistake is letting effing Roadies get involved in the race. They took a bobcat and wiped out the single track for passing lanes in many places, they took out the tunnel trail, they cut down about 20 oaks at the top and they built a bunch of retarded berms. They have let no bike handling or trail building skillz raodies take over. Good job mellow johnnies.

I've built plenty of trails and I would never get involved with a descretation like that. Who ever did that should have his card yanked.

Shoulda been there, coulda made a difference.
    Participate or live with it.
    Or don't ride it.
It's a race venue on private property, not open to the public except for prerides and the race.
In this case safety is more important than opinion.

Is this thread for real? I'm still learning to gauge the sarcasm/smartazz/bullchit level of some the good folks I met out at Flat Creek so bare with me if this thread was posted in sarcasm. I'm no super deluxe racer boy, but I thought the trails were phenomenal and really appreciate all of the hard work that Wookie and Crew put into the trails. I wish it was available to ride every weekend. I admit this is my first time out to Flat Creek but just because certain trails weren't part of the race loop doesn't mean they aren't still there. My understanding is that many of the areas that are more difficult to get to for paramedics (in case of an accident) were excluded from the race loop. Seems pretty simple and logical to me.

no sarcasm. From someone who loved it like it was many years ago, I think the guys who did that hatchet job should take no pride in it other then selling out. Pitiful.

You can send those complaints to Perdenales Electric for all those trees dozed at the top of the hill. Did you miss the huge fucking power line towers that were installed on the hill top? That's not something we installed for the race dumbass. We didn't cut a single oak tree the whole time we were out there. The tunnel trail is still there and it is sweet, it's just not part of this particular course/event. Without this event the chances of you ever riding that trail again were very slim.

You're welcome (to stay home and pout about "the good old days").

If anyone cares about the facts here they are.

We needed a venue, our GM was convinced FCR was the only place and closed the deal even though it was ten fold the most complicated and costly of our choices.

Tobin went out and came back and said no way it can be race ready unless we hire someone full time...Spicewookie just so happened to be available so we hired him full time.

Then awesome folks from here came and worked on the place. We left the trail work to the experts and went to work getting sponsorship to pay the price hefty price that comes with having 2 months to do a 4 month job.

Race routing wasn't up to me. Any oaks cut were a safety concern. The drought we've been in killed many oaks (especially up top) and there were giant widow maker limbs that had fallen in the trail. The majority of the clearing was deadfall. My farm tractor was used on dirt road sections built by other events (ie. Muddy Buddy and such). The trail down by the creek and through the tunnel is still there and we even cleared deadfall down there. When I started working out there in January, the trail was nearly unrecognizable to me from ~8 years prior. A lot has happened on that property in the past few years and most of them weren't good for the trail. I will say that I'm proud that we have gotten the race loop in the condition it is in. It has been a mountain of work that has pleased the land owner, race promoter, and race director.

hummm what are all of those white stumps in the middle of the top trail? someone cut them out of the trail. the trail isnt worth the trip out because there are way better places to ride after yalls hatchet job. at least you admitted you were part of that fiasco.

Ahh a money grab, so it was a sell out. I guess the racer boys Now days don't have the skills like they did when the races were held out there for so many years. I stand by my comments that its a travesty to ruin a sweet site track for a road race.

Yep I'm proud of that "fiasco". You're welcome for those "better places to ride" as well.

    Happy trolling!!
