Walnut Wednesday Workday April 10th from 5:30 PM til Dark

    All:

We will be conducting a Walnut Wednesday Workday on Wednesday April 10th from 5:30PM til dark.

If you cannot meet us on the western edge of the parking lot, we will be working at the bottom of the Powerline Hill repairing erosion and improving sight lines at the bottom of the trail.

If you would like to help, please bring gloves, shovels, and loppers.

We will have electronic waivers for all to sign and check in.

    Thanks,

    Rich
    Walnut Creek Trail Steward

If you can make it, please post up so I can get a good headcount before to do some planning.

Thanks for your work. Can't make it, but a berm at the end would be so sweet. And some could use it for a ramp to launch over the creek, Evel Keneval style.

Yes. As long as it is NOT raining this afternoon, the workday is still on.

The plan is to meet in the parking lot at 5:30PM. One group will walk out to the spot. I will take as many as can fit in my truck with the tools, and drive around to the other side and unload and meet them.

    Rich,
Last night at WC I hit a rock at the entrance to the Waterfall feature on the first Log Loop. It was protruding on the left side of the eroded gully entrance. It sticks out maybe 4 inches. Since I always hold my speed down, I had on my front brake. I did not notice the rock and my front tire just stopped dead. Luckily I did not endo, but just exited to the right. Didn't really hurt at the time. But I surely will avoid so much front brake in the future.

I was wondering if you guys could mark the rock with paint or just chop it off during your trail work tonight or whenever possible. Thanks for all the work you do. You know we appreciate you.

    Thanks,
    Marti

fyi, the berm is designed with the a short steep face deliberately (and it take a lot more people moving dirt to make a tall). with, short steep-faced berms, like in dual slalom, the technique is just to lean/tilt your bike, not try to 'ride up' the face of the berm. the riding line is around the bottom of the berm just like in this picture.... so for now, it's a dual slalom style berm. ; )

Yes, there's still a work day tomorrow. (See other thread). We also had one today--I was just posting pics of it in this thread as an 'update' to the April 10 work day, which was in the same location (Power Line Hill).
