Southern Walnut Creek Hike and Bike progress pics and vid

I had to go out to the airport y'day so I decided to check out the southern end of the trail. I was surprised to find very new and active building going on. The area I scouted and is along Delwau Lane by Urban Roots and on the west side of 183 as well up to Govalle Park. It looks rideable (though closed) from Govalle to past Urban Roots. I love the concept, but man the price tag. That area around Govalle...very different from the opposite end of the trail.

This is very interesting. I ride from my condo near Barton Creek Mall to the 183/Airport rd
area along the hike and bike trail and now I think I will be able to connect to this trail via Shady Ln.
This will turn my 16 mile loop into 22+miles, nice. Now I need the Violet Crown trail to get me
    to 30+miles.

There is concrete across 969 and heading North. It is following an abandoned rail line so it is easy going...

This 969 trail is still being built? How far does it go?
I am trying to ride with my brother who is 100+lbs out of shape and can only handle hike and bike trails..

This was funded by the fed's shovel ready fund from a few years ago.

The Southern section goes from Govalle Park in East Austin to Davis White NE District Park (Loyola & Johnny Morris) I think it is ~ 9 miles...

but that will connect directly to walnut creek park right? I think I will be able to do the following loop

    Thumper->great hills park -> balcones district park->walnut north trail->walnut->south walnut trail->hike and bike-> BCGB->360 -> 360 trails->home

I think that would be around a 45-55 mile loop heavily on bike trails.

Not to mention side trails that will pop up along the way between Nut proper and Govalle.

Nope! There is a huge gap in between the sections and it is not funded. (The section between I-35 and 290 along Walnut Creek)

The section they are working on in Walnut should be completed ( I thought they said 9 months) the next section from the pool to I-35 is still in the planning stages and won't break ground until early next year with a 1 year completion time.

I suspect the whole system will be complete in 13.27 years...

    What/where?

We have 2 Nupla classic McLeods. They have been working great for more than a year. $45 on Amazon with shipping, but today they are $60 on Amazon.
Today I ordered a Nupla McLeod plus shipping is $50 from Chief Supply.

I got the truper, downside is it has a bolt on the flat side which is supposed to be annoying. The nupla doesnt have the bolt but it was 60 on amazon so I just got the truper.

I've got a rogue but been meaning to get a McLeod that's wider for some stuff I want to do. Bolt free on the bottom preferably.

Several weeks ago I took some photos of the surveyors route on Outer Log Loop at Walnut Creek Metro Park. However, my latest ride this past week showed there is considerably more slicing and dicing of Outer Log than originally shown in the photos.

That bolt stuff wouldn't last long where we build. Each of our McL's have a broken tine, not bad considering what they've been through. We use the chain stay wrap trick for the handle, wrap and zip tie a tube.

That's unfortunate. I may ride out there on Monday if we don't get any more rain, and I'll take some photos if I do.
