Anybody have a 9 speed shifter and rear derailleur sitting around in South Austin? Trying to get a campus bike ready for little bro this week.

Okay, found the short stem... But need a chain guide to finish the build. She's on a budget so I've used what older parts I could get my hands on... It's for a 1/9 drive... Not a narrow/wide ring, or a clutch derailleur... Chain shifts fine until you try a multiple cog shift to the highest gear, then it drops. I've used a front derailleur as a chain guide hack, and it works as the chain doesn't drop, but it looks kind of funky, so looking for a better looking solution. Thanks.

I have about 10 used 24x3 Downhill bicycle tubes that need patching for holes, or have been patched previously and the patch failed. These are thick tubes that you could cut up and use for non-bike projects also. Before I get rid of them elsewhere, does anyone here want them? I can leave them outside for pickup.

I most likely have the lower clamp. I will look when home. If I dont have it I suppose you dont want it. Didn't realize it fell off til you mentioned it. I live in RR. Will be riding Brushy early tomorrow. I can stash somewhere if you want it clamp or no clamp

Hey Josh, starting off a little early, aren't you?

My recommendation, depending on the age I guess... for my first son (he was 6ish), I started with a 16" bike, dropped the seat and removed the cranks/chain... I was shocked that he was ready for pedals within a few days. For his little brother (3-4), I got a 12" like new at Goodwill for $5 and didn't bother with the cranks, just pedals, and he was ready after about a week. IMO, dedicated balance bikes are a waste, unless the kid is really little or the bike is free.

It was for my brothers daughter. She had a cheap plastic one that was way undersized and was looking for a quick solution. Found one for free that neighbor had. But thanks for the suggestions I will keep them in mind in future.
