You guys lack self control. How about just not responding? And I thought trump was bad.

Folks... The solution is simple... Stop being dicky with your comments.

You might just be surprised how effective that will be.

Not sure how much it rained there, but I think it should be fine mid morning.

Rained hard around WC and SW parkway according to my wife.

    Sweet 16 got rain.

    Useful update:
Williamson Creek just east of MOPAC (former home of Llama) has a messy spot where earthmoving equipment has pushed a bunch of loose, sandy soil onto the trail. The new construction is hard to miss and hopefully won't jeopardize access to that trail. Easy to get over but might throw off your flow.

The trail along MOPAC south of Convict Hill has new markings, presumably for VCT.

Are developers allowed to do that... Shove dirt on property that isn't theirs... Or was part of the trail on the developer's property... Which might mean having to reroute the trail?

This is the development that is taking place on the land between the back of Lowes and Mopac?

Anyone know if it's more apartments, homes, or retail?

They are very close to starting construction of the VCT, from under the Mopac bridge at Latta and Convict Hill, to the little hump on the edge of Dick Nichols. This section is being built by the Austin Public Works department. Different entities will be doing different sections of the VCT. I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly they have even started to stage for it. The staging area is going to be next to the trail that goes to the library. If I remember correctly they will first clear the trail from Convict Hill to the park, then start construction from the park to Convict Hill. I voiced concerns that there needs to remain some sort of trail access during the 9 (?) month construction process. Just some dirt tread to the side of the construction zone is all we need.

The VCT will follow Mopac, like the trail does now, but instead of veering east to go over that newly armored ditch, it will continue straight to Convict Hill on that side of Latta. Directly through the dirt parking lot that the cavers park in. They will build a new paved parking lot on the east side of Latta to replace that existing dirt lot that's on the west side. It will be in front of that metal swinging gate that is always closed that we ride past.

Most of the VCT will be built with the material similar to what is used at the 290 (Specs) trailhead. A binding agent to hold gravel in place.

Yes. I believe it is going to be apartments and offices.

I was out doing some trail work this morning. Even then it was too soft to ride. Then it started to rain. A lot. So no riding tonight. The trails might be ready on Thursday IF it doesn't rain anymore and the sun comes out and a nice breeze comes up to help dry them out. So probably not even Thursday.

Had a thought about the Violet Crown trail today as I was road riding. It will be a nice option when the trails are too muddy to ride. Not only will we be able to ride soon after a rain, but it will also take us close to our single track to more easily assess the conditions they are in.

Saw some hikers outside SPECS yesterday and asked them how the trail was. They had come up from Zilker and said they had four or five knee-high water crossings and that the trail itself was pretty muddy.

Anyone have any updates on South West trails?

Can't vouch for south of 290 but yesterday the Travis Country area had sections that needed another day of drying. I tiptoed around and did some cedar eye-poker maintenance in the meantime.

I went for a run this morning. What little I saw of the trails were still quite soggy.
