Hey, new guy here. I also saw some rocks in a perfect line across the trail on Disc Go this week.

Is there any area of commercially viable land that Walmart doesn't own a piece of. That's a really fun section you can ride at speed on, especially heading north. I've not encountered walkers on that section of trail, even on my late evening rides. And it's kind of away from the typical paths I've seen people walking on south of Convict Hill. Looking at the map I would tend to think the culprits are from the Sendera Mesa neighborhood and are kids. But I think I read earlier that someone saw adult women? Is that correct, or was that in reference to another section?

On another note... Looking at the City of Austin property map... It seems odd how City land (preserves) come to an abrupt end sometimes. And the particular piece of land that is being discussed is one of them. Looking at the map, you wonder why the City land – Dear Park at Maple Run Preserve – doesn't extend all the way to Slaughter. I'm guessing that this all private property that the City bought pieces of from the owners.

Has anyone considered that perhaps Walmart could be our ally here? The Walton family foundation (or maybe Walmart the company) purchased land all over Bentonville and have promoted and paid for mtb trails to be put on that land. Why not here as well?

I'd say that the fact they haven't blocked off the trail with a fence is a good indication that they are somewhat open to it.

Yes. Or a sign. Or even purple paint.
Although they might help us pursue these miscreants, it might more likely alert them to a situation they are not willing to deal with. A can of purple paint is cheap and easy.
I'm inclined to say let sleeping dogs lie in this scenario.
There were plenty of sticks on the City of Austin property. Interesting too because the rock deal was mostly happening higher up on the trail.

    2 updates......

    1) utility construction between Brodie and Stephenson is completed.

    2) The top section of the bridge on Ewok has been removed. Ewok responsible for the bridges has been notified and a fix/reroute will be considered. The bridge removed was unchained and thrown drug into the creek bed. Any actual knowledge regarding why/who is appreciated.

The city of Sunset Valley knew about the bridges and didn't like them. I forget exactly the sequence of events but when we were discussing re-opening the trail behind the Gates of Mordor they put on the table for the bridges to be removed. But I wouldn't think they would do what is pictured. No telling.

Thanks for the heads up on Ewok bridges. I would have been pretty sad if I found that on my own. That looks like vigilante work. Is that trail still rideable at all without the bridges? I think it can be done, one way or another.

They also said they would look into alternatives around said gates so we don't have to ride Brodie...The man keeping us down.

I wouldn't think so. There is always the other trail higher up the cliff that parallels it.

The Ewok took a look and thinks it's Sunset Valley removing the bridges and that the rest will be removed as well. Not worth the effort to try to reconstruct them if they are being removed by the city. I was able to carefully walk around the section removed but that's about it. Don't think it could be ridden. It may be possible to clear out the creek bed and route around the section and reconnect near the gates. I think the old method of climbing up the erosion prevention wall and connecting above is the easier, more immediate solution.

I've been thinking about this. It would be a lot of work and it would have to be redone after every big rain event. But I think it's doable all the way to the north Gate of Mordor.

That makes me want to go ride thru there without the bridges. I hope they have a game camera up so they can see me riding thru without the bridge.

No. If it were Thumper the trail would go straight up the climb. This one follows along the edge with a big ledge up at the end.

Know any (really) rich mountain bikers that want to put a bike ranch in Circle C area? 385 Acres of the Yates Ranch off 45SW is for sale. https://www.redfin.com/TX/Austin/571.../home/55234334.

Do it. Shred Gnar Like a Boss. We donít need no stinkín bridges!

On a serious note, RIP Ewok bridges. And thanks to the Ewok for his service and quality craftsmanship. The bridges were loved and appreciated by many, especially by those who ride with Ardents.
