I can't imagine the dirt being any finer than it is right now. CC Metro and the Veloway trails are just about perfect for night riding too. And when the weather is as wonderful for riding as it was tonight, and the beer was as cold as it was, well... y'all know what I'm talking about.

Oh, and a P.S., it was great fun following a Bowie mountain bike team member. He showed us the time trail route. It was VERY well flagged. The flagging for it made the flagging for the Big Southie (which was pretty well marked) look like (what I hear) the EB flagging is!
Hopefully it was after said team member finished his steady state riding at the veloway. Or did you recruit a minor into your Crank and Drank shenanigans?

Don't worry, he didn't drink much.

Yes, he was telling us how much he had ridden already in the afternoon. Damn kids! Where do they get all that energy?

I've been out of town. But I've been creeping on Strava, seeing what people are up to, trying to take some vicarious rides.
Is Gravel crossing full of water? I see people turning back at it.

How about Big Dip and Little Dip in CC Metro? Water?

Come on guys! Give me something!

Every crossing had water in it last night. Escarpment and Boulder (via walking) were crossable. Everything else is still too deep.

Dirt is in really good shape.

Kudos to the person that armored the bottom of the hole at the edge of the concrete Escarpment spillway. It's a good as it has ever been.

I saw some new flagging today. It was on the trail coming up from the "muddy tunnel" under Davis Lane. I have no idea what it is for. I know that we will eventually will lose access up that trail to the dirt Barstow path. There is a big sign at the end of the paved Barstow showing how the housing development will be. Progress? Whatever.

It was pretty slick out there this morning. Did it rain last night? It was much more slick this morning than it was Tuesday night.

New to the site but not to mtb; live in oak hill. Would love to go on a casual ride tomorrow (I'm not a speed demon or super good) to learn the trail system out here. Tomorrow am anyone interested in showing me the trails ?

    Welcome to the board!
I am always up to show folks the SATN. I am out of town but when I get back I'll post up about a ride. It's been awhile since we had an intro ride to show it off.

Can anyone shoot me a map or an idea of a starting point so that I can try this some time if I'm able to leave work early? That would be awesome.

Strava Heatmap. Start at Dick Nichols and you'll see it branch out from there.

FYI, we got 2" of rain over the weekend and the trails take a while to dry. I'm guessing things won't be good until Thursday at the earliest. Please don't F up the trails. If its muddy, turn around.

This afternoon? I don't own a light and haven't ridden at night before so I have to do it before the sun goes down. And I have to leave work early to do so.
