I was thinking about trying to sneak out of work this afternoon. I have to be done by 5 to pick up the kids, but I could maybe meet at DN @ 3:30. Steady pace for an hour or so. No guarantees because of work, but that's my tentative plan.

I got out there last night. Meant to do the Veloway, then saw the trails were looking OK. Escarpment to Bowie/Wolftrap is good. Can only cross at Bowie and the concrete bridge at Mopac. Every other crossing will be wet feet.

No word on DN to Latta but assuming it is greasier.

Got a report that Stephenson is a mess (as usual).

It was good to meet you. Good ride. I forgot to remind you go to Strava heatmap to learn more. Strava Global Heatmap
Also to remind about the Tuesday evening Crank and Drank. 6pm at ATX's back door. Weather and trail conditions permitting.

Latta Greenbelt was fine. Everything was fine. We avoided the traditionally slow to recover places. Deer Park run was perfect. Full speed ahead!

The Austin Mountain Bikers Meetup Group had to change their Saturday morning ride, 12/19, from Slaughter Creek Trail because it is still closed.
They are meeting at Dick Nichols at 9 am instead. They have a big group committed to come and I am thinking they might need some ride leaders as a lot of the folks have never ridden the SATN. So if you know the network enough to lead I am sure they could use your help. See you there.

No kidding. 32 right now. Maybe Gravel Crossing is frozen so we can ride across it.

It was not too cold. I wore shorts, a long sleeve shirt and windbreaker, and ear cover thing. I was comfortable. It helped that it was sunny and no wind.

So now there are 20 more converts that are amazed at our trail network after today's group ride. It's always great to hear the "I had no idea this was out here" comments.

The Claremont Loop/Drip Drop was in good shape. I thought it would still be wet. But there was just a small mud patch at the top side and that was the only problem.
The development at the end of Barstow is in full swing. There were new anti-erosion barriers up blocking the trail path. We just hopped over them, but the end is near for that short stretch of trail I believe. So now, coming from under the muddy bridge you will have to turn right and go back up to Davis to go around all that. Not a big loss but still "progress" sucks sometimes.
Veloway trails, Boulder Crossign dry feet walk-able, Gravel still 4 feet deep.

I just saw this or I would have joined. I'm still planning to ride today, but I don't have specific plans yet.

A little slick out there this morning. The on again off again rain didn't help at all!

I rode a lot in Circle C Metro. I rode all five of the complete trails that run between Mopac and Escarpment. Two on the south side of the creek, three on the north side. It totals 4.1 miles. That is including the .7 mile of the gravel jeep track. So 3.4 miles of fun single track.
That is 4.1 miles of unique trail. No repeating at all. The only creek crossing used was Mopac Sidewalk.

I rode the Circle C and Veloway trails yesterday and they were in much better shape than expected. A few soft parts where I just rode the "shoulder", but overall very rideable without harming the trails.

Wish I was! But I'm out of town.

It must have been a good enough day to ride today because I see lots of Strava activity.

This is super cool. Strava has updated the heat map. But now they have it interactive showing 2014 vs 2015 with a movable "swipe" feature so you can compare.
Some areas have not changed at all. Some areas have changed a lot. I can't stop playing with it!
