There was some work done on some of those trenches. Have you ridden it since then? I have not seen that work yet.

Whoever posted the game camera on one of the sanctioned SATN trails, you should check it for some exceptional content from last night. For the record, no animals were hurt in the making of the film and all names, characters, and incidents portrayed in the production were fictitious.
- "Go over the rock, go around the rock. Don't MOVE the rock!"
- "Because trees don't travel 75 miles per hour."
- "Enjoying nature...at a higher rate of speed."
Anyone else notice the purple paint on some trees along the trail on the Bowie Gnarl segment before the crossing at the high school?
Travis CAD shows two private tracts that may go to and even into the creek. Purple paint at a certain height and size acts as a no trespassing signs.
This might be the end of Bowie Gnarl.
A little internet sleuthing has revealed that the parcel adjacent to Bowie was sold Sept 23, 2016. There is now a proposed subdivision with 25 lots planned for the property. We all know that they are not going to build in the creek bed where the trail is, but it looks like it could very well eventually be someone's backyard, all the way down to the creek. Sad but true. Also, the 12 acre parcel just to the south of that is, "available." Is there purple paint on only about half of the trail? Or is it marked on the south entrance to Bowie Gnarl too? There is that barbed wire fence close to the creek down on that side that the trail is on the outside of, I would assume it was the property line, but that is south of this newly sold property.
I thought the chain link fence with the hole in it that goes up to Bowie was the property line that marked all three of those parcels. But now I am pretty sure the property lines are much closer to the creek than the fence.
I really don't know what recourse we have other than to ask the new owner/developer if they really want to cut off access to that trail, or are they merely trying to prevent activity up the hill. But how do you think that conversation would go? Yup, me too.
sigh
It doesn't help that Google Earth has a trail marked on it "Trout Entrance to Veloway" that goes right through that private property. "Trout" being Trout Drive that the trail comes in from. I wish people would be LOTS more discreet in what trails they choose to put on maps.
On a happier note, as in "let's ride", can we have some creek crossing reports? My Saturday ride was a challenge missing the ones that were up. Gravel and the south end of Bowie Gnarl/Jeeptrack crossings were both way too high to cross dry.
How about Boulder? Walkable yet?
Boulder was walkable both Saturday and Sunday. Could pedal going under escarpment without dunking my feet. Saw a guy carry a women through the water at Bowie sidewalk.
What part of the trail is "boulder?"
I noticed the paint on trees closer to Bowie HS.
The Boulder crossing is the first creek crossing going from the bridge under Mopac toward the veloway and hanging a right at the next Y.
The bridge will go over at Boulder crossing. Confirmed with VCT people in the field.
Creek crossings name list
Slaughter Creek, flowing from the fence at the Circle C soccer fields in a southeast direction, eventually going under the railroad tracks just east of the Canterbury Loop.
West to East:
CC Fence (that you are not suppose to cross to get into Slaughter Creek Trail next to the Circle C soccer fields)
Escarpment Spillway
Big Original Bypass (not used much)
Big Original (rarely used now because it always has water in it and it is badly eroded)
Double Dip (The side by side whoop de doo. Lots of fun when dry)
East end (not used much anymore but it was part of the original trail through there)
Mopac Sidewalk
Mopac (the rocky creek crossing actually under the bridge)
Boulder (Challenging to ride. You can carry a bike across days before being able to ride across)
Secret (I just made that name up. It's not used much but it's there.)
Gravel
Bowie Sidewalk
Bowie Rocky
Wolftrap West
Wolftrap East (about 200 yards downstream from Wolftrap West)
Coyote Run (the trail that runs from the Bauerle loop towards the Manchaca bridge. Slaughter and Bauerle Creek converge there)
Canterbury (the eastern most portion, right before the railroad)
Slaughter Creek flows through Mary Moore Searight but does not affect the trails for long so no list needed.
Williamson Creek, Flowing from Brush Country Rd. through Sunset Valley
West to East:
Brush Country Bridge (Not really a crossing but it will flood)
Williamson Creek Greenbelt (the crossing half way to Mopac that is a fun drop down and up when dry)
Mopac West (under the bridge)
Mopac East (almost under the bridge)
Indian Grass Preserve
Brodie North (not to be confused with Brodie South)
Kincheon Branch, Flowing from Whirlpool Cave, under Brodie, Under William Cannon (Bum Bridge) into Williamson Creek in Sunset Valley
Whirlpool (both under the bridge or downstream from the cave)
Candy (the trail crosses the creek twice in a short distance)
Brodie South (under the Brodie bridge, right next to EverWet)
Bum Bridge
Ewok
There is another crossing on the Kincheon Branch just before it joins Williamson Creek, but that is next to the Gates of Mordor and off limits to bikes now.
There are other trails that are affected by rain of course, as some of them are in creek beds, but this is a list of just crossings. Hopefully we all can now give more accurate trail condition reports.

So is C&D on for tonight, or still too wet?
So the Crank and Drank was pretty awesome tonight. At the start we broke into two groups. Ten people each. Fast and Slow. The slow group worked out great because it broke into two sub groups by speed. But the fast five would hold up every now and then for the slow five to catch up.
Everyone started off going the same way for about five miles. The fast group and the slow group both went about 13 miles but slightly different ways. The slow group was 8 mph, the fast group was at 10 mph.
Good stuff.
Perfect weather, perfect dirt, pretty good sausage
"Fast five of the slow group" is not really helping my already precarious ego. I did out-sprint my 12 year daughter.
