This thread should be shut down and all this banal talk be silenced. If you want to know where something is ask someone you ride with. Can't find someone to ride with? Ask on another thread or at a shop or someone IRL.
There is such a thing as overthinking it, over signing it and over discussing it.

    Fair question.

Just over a month ago I went riding the trail with my wife, from Mary Moore Seawright park to Escarpment and back. On the way back we were both runnig low on water. She was bonking so I told her to stop and I'd ride back to the car and come back for her. We stopped by the housing development that's behind Bowie school, but I didn't know that at the time and thought we were somewhere closer to the park. The situation wasn't an emergency, but was enough to remind me of the importance of having a better idea of where I am on a trail in proximity to other things around me.

But look... This is just me. I'd recommend it to anyone going out on trails. But to each his/her own.

    Heil Hitler.

There... Godwin's law has been proven.

Now the thread can be shut down to satiate Zeke's desire.

RidingAgain, if you would like to know the location of the tree I'd be more then happy to show you in person.

But as a general comment, there isn't much in SATN I can't make on a good day. But on a bad day I'll either bypass the tough stuff, or simply get off and walk it. Neither is hard to do, or shameful in anyway.

On trails with features that I struggle with I either give it a fair try and fail (possibly fall), session it till I clean it, or walk it. Again, none of those options is bad.

I will say that the best trails are fun for everyone, even if B lines are needed. But those trails are usually built by professionals, or trail organizations, or governments for everybody's use, not just some industrious (likely reasonably skilled) riders taking things into their own hands.

My advice to those few, as much as I love your work, is that you should either plan for noobs and build the B lines early or just expect things are going to be sanitized.

If anyone wants to meet me and RA out there to discuss where B lines might be a good idea please do.

Well... At least I don't respond with the typical, overused, meaningless, childish... "Fuck, and I thought you were an asshole before."

But here, let me try help dumb it down for you...

Do you really think I give a shit what you think about me based on the often foolish banter that takes place on this forum?

And do you really think what you think of me based on the often foolish banter that takes place on this forum will make a difference to my world?

Zeke... All a comment like yours does is reflect poorly on you, not me.

But perhaps this reality is simply moving above your head.

Hope my "odd response" is a little more clear to you now.

Perhaps I should have made it a little clearer for you, that was a realization about you I had to myself and mistakenly said out loud.

You are inconsequential to me as long as your attitude, actions or ranting don't prompt sanitizing trail or trail closures from over exposure.

I'll bow out of this now and tip my hat to you sir, for you obviously have bested me intellectually.

Good luck to you and all the best for you and yours.

    Ooohhh... "...inconsequential..." . . . Big word.

    And "...ranting..."

    You're funny.

No... Just shined some light on your vanity. Which really wasn't at all difficult.

When can we delete/retire this thread and start a new one that actually is helpful in providing info related to SATN. This entire thread feels like a sanatized trail. I keep looking for the fun shit that used to be here, but now it's just all fucked up.

In this thread it would require pretty much everyone raising their hands.

Funny... You folk come on all tough, full of cutting remarks and snappy comebacks... Someone just deadpans you and it's like, "Oh no, what's happening in here."

I provide a perfectly reasonable response to a comment and get snapped at with an asinine remark. I respond appropriately and it's like.... "Oh look, the one who talks about rocks and wants to sanitize all trails in Austin is being an ass!"

What the fuck... What are you all... 8 year olds who must get their way or whine all day long.

And now there's the call for deleting/retiring this thread because a couple people can't find "...the fun shit..." that used to be here.

No wonder this country is up the creek... "Ohhh, it's not how I like it, it's not how I like it... Let's stop everything and start all over again."

Tell you what... How about if I pull out of coming to this forum and reading most of what people write on it so that I can have a better understanding of what the local mtb community is doing... And just go do my own shit with trails without giving a fuck what people think about it.

Honestly... With the exception of a couple of people on this thread, it's like I'm talking to bratty little kids.

    Grow the fuck up.

    And no...

Riding a mountain bike — and even being really good at it — doesn't equal maturity.

I'm sorry you guys feel like that way down there. Up north it's all like bermie-sandersland and hero dirt. Appresh watcha got. Get along. Ride more fight less. Walk something, don't change stuff, no biggie.
