Came here to report that the bridge barriers were gone, looks like I'm late. Here's a pic anyway:

he is right. Studies have shown that it helps you clear obstacles and make the final push.

Team Reprobates rode it two weeks ago, starting at MoPac pedestrian bridge, crossing barriers, etc. We checked it out, and also crossed over MoPac, where the sidewalk hike/bike trail ends close to the exit for SW Parkway. Be interesting to know the next phase heading south.

How do you get further south without going on the Mopac frontage road? Is there a way through Gaines Ranch Loop to Travis Country Circle?

Get into the BCGB and follow the Violet Crown Trails south. Or from BCGB you could take Pump Station into Travis Country, cross SW Parkway to Monterey (sp?) Oaks then Brush Country.

They have a sidewalk built, that continues on from the south end of the bridge over Barton Creek, that loops around to drop down to the creek. It doesn't go too far down, but it is definitely directing you to drop down on to the Barton Creek Greenbelt trail from the end of the bridge. Unfortunately the "trail" down is service road jeep track that goes straight down to the trail.

A nice, fun, sustainable, switchback trail needs to be built to make that a more viable route. I see this new bridge being used for greenbelt rides when the creek is running high enough that crossings will be difficult. Going up from the trail on the Via Fortuna access, over the bridges, then back down to the creek.

How long before the first bungee jump from the bridge happens?

i saw a suicidal roadie on shoulder of mopac near bestbuy this morning. he was stopped where the onramp merges onto mopac. he looked like he was going to continue north bound on mopac after the merging traffic passed.

Used this officially yesterday, I was able to get from bee caves/360 to the Valero drop in in 25 minutes.

I may actually be able to make a crank n drank!

    Or...

...I see on Stava today that some northern folks are using it to check out the SATN. I thought this bridge was for us to access the north, not the other way around!

    Very cool.

Yet I still saw a roadie in the right-hand southbound lane of mopac yeasterday afternoon. Just nuts. With all the loose gravel from the pavement grinding I'm betting he flatted before he made SW parkway.
