Finally rode the trail. Or, should I say....it rode me. Oh my God, man.

I consider myself to be in fairly decent riding shape and of fairly decent skill. Well, I did anyways. I started at Tejano Camp and went North I guess through the most brutal parts. I went over the bars on a DUMB descent about 3 to 4 miles in....one of those deals where you go "don't hit that rock...don't hit that rock! BAM! *hits rock and goes over bars*" Man, that hurt. Slammed the heel of my left hand and bruised it up pretty nice. Also got a deep ass thigh bruise on the left leg and a nice little shallow gash near my right knee.

Now, I'm getting residual pain from the left shoulder.

Anyways, we go around the lake and get about 8 miles from completing the loop back to Tejano Camp. I decide it would be a good idea to just go to the highways and ride the road back to my car while my friends ride the remaining 8/9 miles. I was cramping, getting chills, and kinda dizzy. It was ugly.

After riding the roads to the wrong camp (Russell Park) and then trying to make it back to Tejano camp by road, my legs literally just locked up on a climb on 3405. I figure I was about 3 miles from Tejano Camp, which kinda pisses me off, but oh well.

The people out there are VERY nice at the camp entrance gates and even gave me an apple and filled my water bottles for me. I can't say enough about how beautiful the trail and facilities are out there....

All in all, awesome trail that got the better of me in a big way...a very big way, but I got a lot of respect for it already. I'm gonna get fitter and try it again, or next time I'll just go to Tejano Camp and ride clockwise (north side) to the dam and back.

Glad you lived to tell about it.

Fun trail but it'll jump up and bite you if you're not careful.

Rode part of the Cedar Hollow section tonight, ran over two small rattle snakes. If the rocks don't get you, then the citters will.

It got me today. We were planning to do the entire loop and started at Cedar Breaks. I took a header on the last long downhill with the log erosion bars and broke my hand. At least it was smooth riding out the last two miles to Tejas where we caught a ride back to my car. I'll give it another shot a couple weeks after I get the cast off. It was a blast while it lasted though.

Dang. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I know where you wipe out and have had a couple of close calls to wiping out there. I rode the loop from Tejas going counterclockwise last Thursday morning and rode the loop clockwise this past Thursday. It's an awesome ride. My arms are usually more tired than my legs. I refilled the camelback at Overlook both times and had enough water. I'm usually wiped out until I get some real food in me.

See, this trail is already in my head. I've figured it out...it's the cessation of alcohol for me about 3 days prior to riding it. I know....suicidal, but I'm gonna have to try it....I think it's sapping my hydration (duh).

Hey man, hope the hand heals fast.
