    A Most Adventurous Cycling Event

The Yellowstone CycleFest takes place July 23-30 in West Yellowstone, Montana. This week-long cycling adventure is for anyone who enjoys an action packed vacation and the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with one of the most unique ecosystems in North America. In addition to daily road biking, the festival will offer a host of exciting activities including white water rafting, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, and America’s hottest new sport, water cycling.

During the festival, participants will trek in two national parks (Yellowstone and Grand Teton), three national forests, and three states (Wyoming, Montana and Idaho). Mornings will be devoted to bicycle touring and hiking. Afternoons are set aside for a great selection of fitness and adventure activities. Daylong guided bus tours of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are also provided.

“There isn’t a better way to truly see this region of North America” says tour director Don Haugo. “CycleFest participants will experience more scenic vistas, lakes, rivers and forests in one mile than they would in a hundred miles of driving. There is no other organized event like it in the United States.”

Significant discounts are available for couples, groups, and cycling clubs.

Cycling, also called bicycling or biking, is the use of bicycles for transport, recreation, exercise or sport. Persons engaged in cycling are referred to as "cyclists", "bikers", or less commonly, as "bicyclists". Apart from two-wheeled bicycles, "cycling" also includes the riding of unicycles, tricycles, quadracycles, recumbent and similar human-powered vehicles (HPVs).
Bicycles were introduced in the 19th century and now number approximately one billion worldwide. They are the principal means of transportation in many parts of the world.
Cycling is widely regarded as a very effective and efficient mode of transportation optimal for short to moderate distances.
Bicycles provide numerous benefits in comparison with motor vehicles, including the sustained physical exercise involved in cycling, easier parking, increased maneuverability, and access to roads, bike paths and rural trails. Cycling also offers a reduced consumption of fossil fuels, less air or noise pollution, and much reduced traffic congestion. These lead to less financial cost to the user as well as to society at large. By fitting bicycle racks on the front of buses, transit agencies can significantly increase the areas they can serve.
