Have you ridden any trails in the Gila Wilderness area?

I'm not him, but I have ridden there and posted some info on it in these threads:

Silver City, NM - Gila National Forest

Edit (correction): Off-road riding is not allowed inside the Wilderness Area. The threads above refer to the Gila National Forest, which surrounds the W.A.

You are allowed to ride in the Gila N.F., but not in the W.A.

What do you think is/are the best trails? I am trying to learn about the area.

We could go there and mountain bike together except I would probalby end up pushing you over a cliff

I havent ridden in the gila just yet. I hope to maybe sometime next week on spring break. It looks like a great area though. I went out there during my National Guard training in a HMMV. Do you know a good trail to go on?

Never been but recently got interested in the area for camping, hiking, riding. I knew you were in NM and maybe you had ridden there. Are you going with peeps who are familiar with Gila? When you get back, post up on the rides.

Most likely I will have to go by myself. I was thinking of riding from Silver to TorC. I may not have time to do that and riding solo for that long isnt that great of an idea. I have geological survey maps to the area and ill just use that as a guide.

Sorry guys, didnt get to go to the Gila this week. I did that road race in Los Lunas and got sick from the snow and sleet. I road on thursday and still was feeling pretty crappy. Looks like I will have to wait till May.

May would be a better time anyway, a lot warmer. SOmeday I will ride in Gila.
