2nd Annual Fort Worth Fat Tire Festival

Whatís up! Iím sending y'all of the info regarding . . . .

The 2nd Annual Fort Worth Fat Tire Festival benefitting the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers' Association!
Sunday, May 13, 2012 (Mother's Day!) 10:00am till 4:00pm at Gateway Park in Ft Worth.

Last year, the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers' Association hosted a huge fundraiser that brought in funding for the construction of a new off-road trail at Gateway Park, in Ft. Worth. This year is going to be even bigger now that we have several miles of new trail to ride!

There will be no charge to vendors for booth space, all we ask is that every person who attends please make a $10.00 donation to the club as part of the entry fee to the event and supply 1 raffle item that we will collect at the event. Arrive early as vendor space is first come, first served.

This Facebook page includes pictures and details from last year's Fat Tire Festival: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fort-W...17807064907225

As you are probably aware, FWMBA is a 501c3 that does many positive things for our community, including building trails with all volunteer work crews and promoting cycling events that raise awareness about the benefits of mountain biking. FWMBA has a club meeting at Backwoods, 2727 W. 7th Street on the first Tuesday of every month. This meeting is open to the public, and is mostly informal. Please join us Tuesday, May 1st 7:00pm for more information on the festival.

GOOD MORNING! I don’t know about you, but it looks like a great Sunday for a bicycle party! Sunny skies, cool weather and low humidity – the complete opposite of last year’s Fat Tire Festival weather (except for the sun!). Below is more info on the 2nd Annual Fat Tire Festival . . .

    - Yes, Virginia, it did rain at Gateway Park and (as of Saturday morning) the trails are closed to riding. However, I was at the trail Thursday night and to be honest they needed some rain. With some sun, wind and time things should be much better later today and tomorrow. Keep checking the forum for updates on Gateway Park trail conditions throughout the day.
    - Speaking of the Gateway Park trails I don’t think that I’ve seen them in better shape. Gateway has the perfect mix of elevation, flow and rhythm. Matt and Andy, as well as, the whole FWMBA gang really do have to be commended for creating such a great trail. It is not only a great beginner trail, but one that is just a blast to ride fast!

    Zoom!

    Zoom! Zoom!

    - Eastside singletrack! FWMBA built 1.5 miles of the proposed 5.5 miles of singletrack east of the Trinity River. Check out the FWMBA kiosk or ask a FWMBA member when at the festival how to access the Eastside trails. There are fantastic sustained climbs and one of the best views of downtown Fort Worth anywhere in the city. The eastside Trails can be accessed via the Trinity Trail low water crossing. To return from the Eastside Trails there is a new connector to the Westside Trails approximately 75’ west of the East 1st Street bridge over the Trinity River. There is a trail map right here: http://www.fwmba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5371
    - FWMBA t-shirts will be on sale! We just pick up a new stash of cool FWMBA t-shirts in all of the stylin’ colors you come to expect from your favorite FW mountain bike club. Buy one! All of the cool kids are doing it!
    - Join FWMBA! Jeff Moore, FWMBA’s new membership director, will be at the festival to sign folks up and answer any and all membership related questions. Jeff is a welcomed addition to the club and is as passionate about mountain biking as anyone I’ve met – plus he’s a mean guitar player too!
    - Parking! There are two lots available – pick one! Enter Gateway Park from East 1st Street. We’ll have signs up directing you to the parking areas. Please do not park inside the Valle Circle gate unless you’re a vendor or staff member.
    - When you're packing to come to the festival be sure to bring some of these . . . .

I'll be moving into the area, Keller, in the middle of June. I'll need to find all the trails in the area.
