If that map is correct, that park is like half a mile (maybe less) from my apartment. I've never noticed. Weird.

They even have an old man's night for us old guyz! Sad thing is, it's been 15 years since I've been on a ramp

Just flooww. I've never done any serious ramp riding period but I'd like to try sometime. It'd prolly be intimidating tho. I've seen some good riders locally. I need to dust off the ol 20" this fall/winter.

Same here......my 20's (Mongoose Decade Pro) at the bottom of the pile of bikes. I probably need to do some brake work too. Do you know of anyone in town that might still carry old style side-pull brakes and pads???? I checked with Trend & they didn't have what I was looking for. I guess it's time to go on-line and do a search for those hard to get 15 year old parts huh???

I don't know of anyone that carries that brake. But, I've been to shops that carry old stuff in general like Buck's and maybe Conthrons. Maybe Ozone can pull something out of the back of the store. Or, you can get the 990 plate and use 990's. That would muck up the old school appeal tho. There's gotta be someone that sells that stuff.

Thanks Toonces.....frankford has all new stock, bulldogz and pitbullz are the best side pullz they offer. I'm not sure about tektro....they are an off brand but I have seen their v-brakes and they work pretty damn good. I have one bike with a pitbull on the front and it suxxx. It doesn't grab for sh!t. Maybe if I changed the pads to scott mathausers (spelling?) then they might grab to my liking.

The other bikes have dia-compe MX1000's (Killer fucking grabbing brakes) but tend to brake at the arms and bolts occasionally....and my main ride (24 Kuwahara) has dia-compe Nippon's front and rear...also killer grabbing brakes...I think the pads just need to be replace. Their a little worn but they're atleast 10-12 years old.

yup. watch road fools 1 and you'll see. that's an old video, but you get the idea even back then. nowadays, he's prolly perfected all types of sprocket slides and smooth tech stuff. he takes simple airs and turns them into pure style. truly style over size.

just found out that clip of Taj is from Etnies Forward. there's a little clip of the vid as a whole on hcor.net. all i have to say is......

Of course here I am jumping into a 2-month old thread.

Have you been to the other skatepark, up north on hwy 29? Take 183N through Cedar Park to Hwy 29, take 29 east and the warehouse will be on the right a mile or two down. I'm butchering the name but it's "Intellect Rollers Realm" or somesuch. Skate + bike. It's been more than a year since I've been out there, so it may or may not still be there.

Yeah, that's Roller's Realm (intellect roller's realm). Watched a constest/demo there last year. Was pretty neat.

Went to the Skatepark of Austin today. Sweet place. Didn't have any pegs on my bike, but it was fuuun. Just flow. Drop in, hit the roller, pump the box, turn the wall, manual the small vert wall, up the little transition, turn the quarter bowl, then do it all again. Mellow. Lets go!

Well shooot, you and I were pro'lly there at the same time for that contest.

Today at lunch I went by the Austin skatepark to check it out, but they don't open until 1pm; I'm thinking of going up to see some action tonight.

I don't ride ramps anymore -- it's been 15 years since I had my quarter pipe -- but that said, I can't get enough of watching skaters and freestyle BMXers.

i know S of A isn't, but any of the other outdoors and free? i've seen some places (online of course) that are outside and free, and look oh-so-fun, which would be awesome.

Tonight happened to be "bike night" at SoA and I stayed about an hour, watched the folks and talked with the owner. They built that place in 7 weeks! (But planned for a year and a half.)

I wish this park the best of luck. They've done a fantastic job inside.

interesting stuff from J & T....there's a Ti Barcode in their hands. 23lbs complete....but estimated cost would be about 3000$ so production isn't likely. they're also doing a Garret Byrnes signature frame. it's got little chainstay protectors to prevent screwing them up when grinding, and basically, from what i could tell, a built in seatpost. oh, and a T1-stamped gusset that looks pretty neato.

I predict that the ti bike doesn't last very long. But, if ever there was a pro street bmx'er that could ride a titanium frame, that would be Taj. Smooth.
