support for a pump track / dirt jumps / skills area?

    anyone read this thread?

I am working on a list of peeps that are willing to get involved in a dig, or constuction, or fund raising for a pump track.

Might also need some help presenting a proposal to the city parks department - see if we can get some space allocated for this (officially) at one or more of the parks

Check out Austin's thread on this site. They have already been there done that and someone might have some insight on what needs to be done or helpful advise on how to go about it here.

    bump

lack of wet in summertime = dig does no good; once (if?) rainy season comes...then something might happen somewhere in SA

seems to me that we may need to have something to ride (and for policy folks to look at) locally to get people interested enough to help make it happen in a sanctioned way; of course that runs a risk of alienating parks officials and/or tickets for the civil disobedients among us...or worse, having good stuff destroyed

without a "concrete" example (of course actually a dirt example), it's a bit hard to explain the concept of a pump track - especially to a non-rider

as far as Austin urbane legends go, 9th street and redbox never would have happened if riders didn't dig 1st and ask permission later; the walnut creek pump track being legit only happened within a community that already had other more extreme yet sanctioned dj facilities...
