    XTR dustcap

Carlos you got a solution for a NDS dustcap on my XTR rear hub popping off? I cleaned it real well couldn't see anything broken, guess maybe the plastics just worn down...just kinda rattles loose after awhile on rocky rides (it's about 5 years old, handbuilt wheels rule)

i'll call shimano and see if they sell those alone.....i'm not sure they do but it's worth a try.

i've known folks who slip a thin bit of inner tube strip in there to keep it tight. not too thick or it will damage the cap.

Thanks...I was thinking a water soluble glue, but figured it wouldn't hold up to all the creek crossing at walnut creek, or maybe a single wrap of teflon tape.

    survey says!

shimano tech said they have that part in stock and that any shop can order just that part. he didn't give a price so that may be an issue.

    part number is 32T-1100

it is made out of plastic so if you do put something on there to get the worn one to hold on a little better, just make sure it doesn't snap the tabs or else you'll have to ride without that cap.

see if they can order directly from shimano....i'd assume it would take less time to show up.

just make sure they don't charge you $18.99

no more than 3 dollars.....i'd say.

If it was much more than $5 it was gonna be the teflon tape or inner tube route

I was wondering about the ordering directly from Shimano thing....hate when they tell ya they've gotta wait for the sales rep to come thru town.
