    Patching Tubeless

    What is the best method people have found to patch tubelless?

    I have been runing tubeless tires for about a year and have just recently had my first flat. I patched it with a park speed patch, which did not hold at first. But after running a tube in the tire, the park patch seems to be holding.

    I do not, however, trust it.

    So far I have heard that superglue works well, and automotive patch kits work well.

    Are the Hutchinson patch kits just more expensive versions of the automotive kits?

    the Bontrager site (even though Keith Bontrager left years ago) has some good info.

    All About Tubeless

    typically, a tubeless tire will be non-porous to prevent excessive air seepage. to do this, the inside wall is made very smooth and coated with a waxy slick treatment. this treatment is what usually causes tire boots to fail.

    a little windex will help to prepare the surface to accept a boot.

    most important info from the site "It is often possible to repair a damaged casing in order to ride out on a given day. It is only good for an emergency repair so *replace the tire before the next ride*."

    You should be able to use a regular patch kit. You want to clean the area around the hole as good as possible. I realize on the trail this could be difficult. Put the patch on, then insert a standard tube and finish your ride. Once your home, take the tube out and you should have a patched tire! This should work for you as long as your hole is not too big.
