Evening mojos. So I'm finally breaking down and upgrading my mountain bike. It's been a long time coming and it's just getting hard to find 8-sp SRAM stuff (if you have an in, I'll trade a child for it) and if I'm getting new components, I'm definitely getting a new fork. I'm riding an RST 281 btw (are they still in business anymore??) Anyway, I've always been a fan of Manitou and Marzzochi and and wanted some help narrowing it down. I'm zeroing in on the Manitou Drake and the Marzocchi XC600.

Type of riding: I'm do the majority of my riding in Houston at either Memorial Park or Huntsville. Lots of flat single track and a pretty good amount of roots. When I'm in SA, I ride Cibolo Creek from IH-35 down to Schertz Park. Lots of different stuff down there including some good size drops. I don't think I need anything with a lot of travel or lock outs or anything, but I'm open to them if the pros outweigh the cons.

Brakes: I'm riding traditional V right now, but may be switching over to disc. I don't think this is going to be an issue.

Me: Average rider, fluctuating from 165-190 during the winter.

All right boys and girls, let me know your thoughts.
