    Fixed gear schtuff.

I need to know the following information, please:

    1. Will 3/32" cogs work with modern-day track bikes?
    2. Do most track bikes use 130 BCD chainrings?
    3. Will Park HCW2 lockring tool, and SR1 chainwhip work to remove/install cogs?

    Tanx.

the cogs...so long as you get a chain and chain ring that is also 3/32nds compatible.

also, if you're getting a track frame.....the rear drop out spacing is usually 120mm. just as add on info.

    yup...130 BCD.

as for the lockring tool.....is this going to be a fixed gear track bike or one with a free wheel?

Fixed gear. From what I'm finding out, I have the tools I need. The HCW2 is an adjustable lockting tool and then the chainwhip is a chainwhip.

Strange that you brought up fixies... One of the guys here at the UBI hostel has a fixie that I've been riding around town some. It's very challenging, but a great time as well.

I got a sweet deal on a Surly 1X1 this weekend, it was only (250 bucks) for the frame and fork and I couldn't pass it up. Especially since the Trek I did the SS conversion on has developed warranty issues and will be sent back to Trek when I get boack to Texas.

I need some sort of BMX style chain tensioner to get the Surly 'perfect'. Does anyone have any recs? Surly has their own listed on their site, but I called quality about it today and they said it's still a couple monthes out...

All sorts of companies make chain tugs. Like Standard Bykes in carlos' post. Check out www.webcyclery.com for a bunch of SS stuff. And BMX places too.
