    CRCC/CRCT Ride Schedule

I've had some folks email me about a ride schedule since our post dropped off. I put this together, feel free to edit if you'd like:

This time of year most of the riders sticking to a scheduled ride are the hard cores and racers, come DST (March 14th), the Tues/Thurs rides will start growing with more attendance. As temps warm up, the Sat/Sun rides start growing.

Saturday – Leave the Crosswalk Coffee shop, New Braunfels square, 8am, for a 1-hour loop (hard cores and race types), come back around to the square and pickup the 9am starters. When things warm up temp wise, the 9am start moves back to start at 8, everyone starts at 8.

Sunday – Meet at the coffee shop in Gruene by the Adobe Mexican restaurant, 8am. Everyone rolls out around 8:15 (this can be a fast paced ride, based on those that show and if they raced on Saturday).

Tues/Thurs rides start at 5:30 – 6:00pm from the large Gruene parking lot as soon as DST kicks in (14 March). There will be a post when that time comes so everyone knows the start times. Before DST starts there are some folks that try to organize some night rides on Tues/Thurs if the weather is decent, starting times can vary from 5:30 – 6:30pm, check Bike Mojo for people posting information. These are nice rides, we’ve got some folks with really bright lights and the groups are usually 6-12 people.

Let me clear it up before the question is asked, the ride schedule didn't drop off the sticky notes, it's just that it's 2010 and things have changed just a bit, being winter and no DST yet.

There are other reasons to meet at 8am for the one-hour loop:

1 - You need to escape the house before your spouse and children wake up.
2 - You want to verify that your shifters and derailleurs work in sub-freezing temps (you never know when you might need to ride to the top of K2).
3 - You want to see if icicles will form on your body.

And, the most important reason to get in that one extra hour:

4 – A couple hours later, when Jack, Rene or others of that ilk (who don’t show up at 8am, but do ride at 9am), are destroying your legs out on Gin Road, you can say, "I'd be able to keep up with you, but my legs are toast because we averaged 38mph during the 8am loop”.

    Ride Update

Tuesday Rides - Out River Road to the top of Canyon Dam, turn around and come back. You can turn around anywhere on the route if you'd like. Lead group is race pace, a mix of Cat 2,3,4 and 5's and some fast old guys.

Wed Ride - average pace is 15-17mph, we do our best to leave no one behind

Thursday Ride - bring a couple of cold ones and hang out in the parking lot after the ride. Could chance to break into the group and meet some of the riders.

btw, in case you've not ridden with us at night, this is NOT a hammerfest. the purpose of winter time night rides is to get in miles.

Just an FYI we had a nice ride Thursday night. A new/old guy "C" from the Gruene Bikeworks days joined in last night. Lets try to a few more out next time. Thursday, 6:30p @ Gruene parking lot...obviously, you need lights, a great headlight is not as important as a good taillight. Also, when and where is the "official" Sat morning ride?

How far and fast to you guys normally ride? I'm not sure if I can swing a night ride but I'm gonna be in San Marcos this week and am looking for a Thursday ride.

We normally ride about 30 miles at a 16-18 pace depending on who shows up. It is definatly a stay together ride. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider.
