    Open Forum, whatayagotasay

The Mojo powers to be killed my “Free for All” thread when they flushed the forum back in Dec of 2009.
This is my new thread, “Open Forum, whatayagotasay”
First thing I gotta say, “BIG SHOUT OUT” to Kevin (KBlake) who graduates from TXST tomorrow. Enjoyed meeting your parents tonight, they should be proud, you’re a good kid!
Second thing I gotta say, all you folks that read the forum and never post, lets see you sign-up and make your “1ST” post on this thread, I dare you to speak up……
Final thing I gotta say, thanks to everyone, and I mean “EVERYONE” that rides with us on Sat/Sun/Tues/Wed/Thurs, you folks are what makes our rides successful. We’ve got a great group of cyclist here in New Braunfels and the surrounding area. I can’t come close to naming all the people that motivate me to ride harder, ride faster, ride longer and just ride for fun.
Gotta luv living here in New Braunfels, don’t take it for granted!
Post up, let’s see a couple of thousand posts on this thread come XMAS time…..

1 - furniture store employees need to get up front and pull.

2 - those who tell fictional stories about their corpulence need to stop taking the right-at-huber shortcut.

Although I was racing The Driveway last night rather than riding the Thursday loop with you folks, I feel this could quite possibly mean me. If so...... message received.

Also, if this is truly an 'everything goes' thread, I'll use it as a chance to shamelessly beg for donations to the American Diabetes Association's Tour De Cure, which I'll be riding in next weekend. With all the rides and races I've done over the years, this is actually my FIRST true charity event, which is obviously long overdue. With my father's recent battle with diabetes, I thought this event deserved my attention. If you'd like to help out by sponsoring me, please click here:

John B, I hope you don't mind me using one of your ToL photos to put on my Tour De Cure fundraising page. It was the best one I could find, but there website made it all grainy for some reason. I owe you a couple bucks for the download.

i wasn't referring to you, but consider this an invitation to turn left at the end of huber.

Ah... meant for Jaime, I suppose, then. I took the left with everyone on the last Thursday ride I attended and proceeded to get dropped on the step-ups. Will try again next time.

I suppose this means I agree with this statement: The Thursday ride is too fast.

"corpulence", I had to look that one up, guess I might have a slim idea who you might be talking to

Since I'm usually off the back by that turn, I work harder trying to get out front and stay out front than I would by just following and realizing I'm creating a practical vacuum in my mouth.

    Rider Alert

Freddie is still riding; he was out getting miles in on his mountain bike today. We crossed paths up in Kyle. Freddie, if you’re reading MOJO, it was good seeing you today.

I raced my MTB yesterday (if you can call what I did “racing”).

Following are four liquid-related tips, which I should have used, but didn’t. Feel free to call me a dumb-arse (here, to my face, or behind my back).

1 – When it rains 6+ inches on Friday/Saturday, the course is not going to be anything but wet and muddy on Sunday, no matter how much you want it, wish it, think it.

2 – Do NOT change your hydration routine at a race. If it’s been working for you during your rides, stay with it. If you do change it at a race, be prepared to be standing on the side of the trail (or road) with locked up legs, wincing, cursing, watching people pass you by.

3 – If you have any drink bottles with a cap that doesn’t seal REALLY well, don’t use them at a race…unless you don’t mind the top popping off when you are trying to squeeze a drink into your mouth, and, instead you give yourself a facial of whatever it is you’re drinking.

4 – When coming into a feed zone and you call out to a volunteer, “Is that water”, and she replies, “Yes, this is water”, don’t believe her…unless you don’t mind filling your helmet, eyes, jersey, etc. with orange Gatorade. (I’m still trying to figure out this one!).

BTW, EJ got on the podium yesterday...congrats.
