Question One way single track in Memorial?

After the race at Huntsville I realise I need to get quicker. Which means more evenings down at Memorial, cool. But going race speed around the park isn't an option as you never know what's around the next bend.

What are the chances that one of the smaller trails could be made one way? Or should I just leave my speed training for the road?

I say leave it for the road, or ride there on a weekday before noon...or at night. If the trails were turned into a one way system there would be alot more people riding slowly bocking, and going the wrong way. One reason the trails aren't one way is because it keeps you aware of the dangers of oncoming traffic, if the trails were swithced you would see alot more head on crashes out there with riders and runners. It would be cool to go all out on those trails with out any worries of a rider around the next turn. I always ride them both ways because they are so short, and find weekdays before noon to be the best time to ride all out with maybe seeing 5 people on mountain bikes. If there was double the trail length and was possible to stop people from going the wrong way I would say go for it, but I would go OFF if I wrecked into someone going the wrong way on a one way trail

I agree, if your schedule can handle it weekday mornings @ MP are solid. It definitely gives you the to almost have the place to yourself and open it up. Another prob w/ one way trails is you only get to ride 1/2 the trail.

keep in mind that the trails are also open to joggers and horseback riders.

I guess it is too busy of a park to make sections one way and yes I also ride most sections both ways to get the most out them.

What are the chances that we could run a small race around the park? Mark out a one mile loop and run a sort of offroad time trial. If they can run a Crit around the picnic loop, why can't Mtbers run a short race?

GHORBA is planning some Dash fer Cash type informal races for the future. I'll post them on www.ghorba.org when we do.
