    Gators on the trail

Anybody ever experience this? I haven't, and hope I never do, but my "local" trail has a few spots that always make me nervous, and the signs at the park state that there are gators in the lake, though I have never seen any. What is the best way to handle such a situation? What do you do if you see Ol' Stumpy laying across the trail in front of you? Do you stop, turn imediately and haul ass? Back away slowly? Any advice? I ride alone, so being able to outsprint the person I'm with is not an advantage here.

I did see the sign up in Huntsville before the race which warned about Gators in the park. And had wondered the same thing, what do you do if you come across one on the trail?
My only real idea was not to panic and fall off.

I think I might have to work on improving my bunny hop!

I thought about the bunny hop, too - bet I could pull the best one ever under those circumstances.

I've never come across a gator on the trail but we did see plenty in the lake and one even came up on shore a little too close to my tent!

Straight out of Jack Ass: The movie, I would beat the gator down and have my way with it.

WE use to catch some smaller ones when we were kids. The only advice I can give, maybe TxRaider can give more info on this, If it tries to have it's way with you play dead.
