    More skill I say!

Yesterday was too good to pass up, so I took out my fat tire bike and hit the trails. While straight lines at 21mph has been my thing of the past on the skinny tire bike, I realized I've been off of dirt WAY to long! No joke, I was all over the trails, like a baby deer learning to walk. I bottomed out on some logs, got bounced around on roots, and damn near washed out in more than a few turns. Didn't help that I didn't switch out tires; I was still riding on my commuting slicks. I think on Wednesday night I'm going to hit the trails after work while the crit series is going on.

Bring the fatty to MoJoFest for sure! It's not flat, and bouncing all over the Madrone is exactly what the trail does to you!

I will, but I'm telling you man, I royally suck out on the trails! I couldn't beleive it myself! I mean, granted I was climbing on a bald tire, but I'm boss and should be able to do that Know what I mean Jelly bean?

I'm so looking forward to MojoFest. Hell, I'm considering getting one of thoe Hitch Mounted cargo carriers just so I can fit all the bikes in there! Erica is still deciding if she wants to bring her mountain bike or if she's just going to sit back and drink beer while I play in the dirt

Have her bring it. The RLAG group from Austin is hosting the poker run on Sun. It'll be a nice laid backed trail ride, or you can hammer and have better card selection. I haven't seen you in what, over a year?
Hell I probably won't recognize you. I'll be the one staggering around by noon more than likely!

MojoFest was this past weekend at Canyon Lake. It was a blast! I got more miles in on the road bike though, I couldn't resist all the hills! There was two good ones on Purgatory road, and the climb up to the damn put the hurt on me. It was fun though going down those roads at 35+.

Yup, I kept having to brake cause some folks in front of me were twitchy. When I would get out front, I'd cruise all the way down like a hot knife thru butta. I really liked 306 for some reason, even though it was a crappy road. If the shoulder was a little bit wider it would have been easier to move around, but it was all good. I had a good time and look forward to going out there again.

Ya'll need to come on over to the Dam loop in Austin. I live right on the thing while I'm back from school. The hill on 2222 gets up up to 55. I love coming back here for the hills and the bad ass views of the lake. The team comes out here every summer for some training.

Man it's been years since I've kicked it in Austin. Which dam are you talking about? I don't remember a dam there, then again, I lived out in the hood (Del Valle) before it was the hood! haha

Matter of fact Blake, I'll be in the Cen Tex area for about a week in July and would be interested in getting ride time in. Most of my stuff, when I'm home, is in the New Braunfels/Marion/New Berlin/Converse area, as well as San Antonio itself. Heck the GVGP race that is run in Jan/Feb is the site of the old training loop I used to do before I moved to Houston! There be some good riding and quite roads out there......

Let me know when you come to Austin, I get tired of riding this thing by myself. The Dam loop is a loop in West Austin, the leg that is on 620 crosses the Mansfield dam. The loop includes 360 (or Capitol of Tx highway) Bee Cave rd. and Highway 71. Its about 35 miles with a lot of hills, but really awesome scenery. Especially crossing the Pennybacker bridge on 360.

Cool! I'll have to check it out. I'm planning on being there the 27th of July (riding a double century from Houston to San Antonio that day). Getting hammered on the River the 28th and 29th, and then chilling out till the 4th. Is it crowded on the weekdays? Not that I mind sharing the road with a few motorists.

Ah, the greenbelt. Man, I've not heard or been to that place in a while. As the time gets closer and the plans start to solidify, I'll PM you for the ride.
