The Waco Bicycle Club produces an electronic bulletin that goes out to our members and those interested in cycling events in the McLennan County area. This is a free service and anyone interested can subscribe. We send out about 1-2 emails a week or when pertinent. If your interested in subscribing send an email to This is not an automated service--it's just our way of networking information. The only requirement is that we have a full name, phone number, and local club name or city name in which you live. Here is a copy of the latest bulletin:

Come Dig In The Dirt!!

The Cameron Park Rangers ( are set to join us tomorrow (Saturday, December 14th) at Lover’s Leap. We’ll be meeting at the picnic area at 8:00 AM. Our task for the day is to cut a major new section of trail. Matt Kiel (Park Ranger) has already constructed the bridge and marked the trail. We’ll be connecting California 56 to Shyst. This will open up the front section of the trail system and provide different course offerings. The Park Rangers are attempting to alleviate the environmental impact the traffic has had on Flume and lesson traffic on other areas of Shyst and 56.

This will be a pay dirt point opportunity so be sure to come prepared to work. We will break for a picnic lunch at 12:00 so if you can’t join is in the morning, feel free to meet us at lover’s leap after lunch—work will resume around 1:00 PM. You’ll need to bring gloves and any appropriate trail-building tools you may have (rakes, hoes, shovels, picks, sheers, etc.). Rarely do the Park Rangers ask for our assistance—so please make every effort to attend. The weather is going to be beautiful and everyone knows trail building is a blast!! I hope to see you there.

Bike MoJo

It is my sincerest pleasure to announce that the Waco Bicycle Club has joined San Antonio, Austin, Houston, New Braunfels, Boulder-Colorado, and Phoenix-Arizona at Bike

Our website should be updated this weekend, but the forum can be found at:

There is both a mountain and road forum. The response thus far has been overwhelmingly positive. In the future you'll find information about our club, local venues, activities, pay dirt point opportunities, and general cycling news in the McLennan County area, as well as information about our two championship series races: "Outback Blowout" and the NEW "WBC Broken Oak Challenge."

We're finally reaching out and networking with other clubs. This is a great way to bring our sport together and create new freindships. I strongly encourage everyone to check it out!

Christmas Party

Don’t forget that our December meeting/Christmas Party will be this coming Monday (December 16th)! This will be our final meeting of the year so be sure not to miss it. We’ll have videos, awards, announcements, and a special ceremony (to be announced at the meeting). Also, we’ll elect our 2003 slate of WBC officers and vote on club dues.

Per usual, the club will meet at Uncle Dan's Restaurant on 1001 Lake Air Drive. If you wish to eat please arrive a little early. Members generally arrive at 6:30 to socialize over dinner. The meeting will start sharply at 7:00.

Broken Oak Ride

There will be a ride at the Broken Oak Ranch in Valley Mills, TX this Sunday (December, 15th) at 2:00 PM. We’ll be meeting at the campgrounds and riding the red loop. This is an open ride and everyone is invited. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us: If you need directions, a map, or want to learn more about the ranch visit our website:

Road Rides

We’ve been pretty occupied with the TMBRA series event and our work weekend, but don’t be fooled into believing “dirt” activities are the only thing going on. There are several major “pavement” projects in the works. The Waco criterium is taking shape and there will soon be more information available. The club/shop rides have recently been rescheduled and the website will soon reflect those changes—including additional information like ROAD RIDE MAPS!!

We’re REALLY busy right now so please be patient with us. If you have any suggestions, comments, or critical feedback please let us hear from you:

This is your club and we value what you’ve got to say!!

Have a great weekend! I hope to see you out there enjoying this weather.
