I will let ya know when I finally get my bike and decide to head out.... It's going to be hard to fight the urge to jump on the double blacks, gotta remember I'm not a teenager anymore lol but I'm trying to get my gf into the MB scene and I know she will grab me by my boys and drag me off if I try some crazy stuff with her around so maybe that will be how I keep myself realistic lol.

Trails were hardpack and nearly dust free yesterday evening.

Maybe it is just a coincidence, but the other day there was a log in the middle of the trail at the intersection of Johnnny and Powerline. I figured it had something to do with the footrace(???). Then last night, somebody had put a couple of cinderblocks in the same spot. They were a lot harder to see so be careful thru there.

    Wumpus (or anybody)

I wonder if you can tell us about weekend rides at Cameron Park this coming two weekends. My friend Ralph is nuts to go and we have some others that might be interested--our levels are varied. Is there still a ride at 2 on Sundays?

This is a very good thread, by the way, we should have an ongoing thread on VooDoo to update conditions. It was a big help when we almost went before but were tipped by this thread that there was a race when we wanted to go.

    Thanks,
    Marti

    Marti,

There's a slight chance of rain here for the next few days. However, if it doesn't rain too hard, the park should be ridable on the weekends. Just some days ago, a few of us went out, caught a drizzle in the parking lot, and hit the trails...they were still dry! The tree cover is dense enough to keep some of that drizzle from wetting the trails.

The 2 pm Sunday ride still occurs...look for Dawn, she'll help introduce you to everyone and explain how the ride works (basically, it splits into two groups...one "advanced", and one "beginner")

Hope that helps. I'm sure Wumpus will keep this updated through the weekend as the weather changes...I would, but I'll be suffering the darker side of biking

We did get hammered last night, but the sun is out and the wind is blowing. This evening might have a few slick rocks, but the trails should be in great shape this weekend.

    Thanks!

Good to be able to get trail conditions without even using a weather website. Do you have a local gauge that gives total rainfall?

The history part is the Waco Airport -- 2 miles or so from the park.

The KE5EGI Weather Room is on the other side of town.

Quite a big difference in readings this morning -- 3/4".

    Cameron Trails Good to Ride?

Some friends and I were thinking about driving down to check out the trails. We're trying to find some current trail conditions.

    What's the word?

    Thanks!

    I haven't ridden yet, but I'll guess.

It rainded heavy Thurs night. It was sunny Friday and today. The trails should be fine. Some slippery rocks today. Probably perfect Sunday.

    Sunday 10 am

We meet at the Mouth of the Bosque -- right turn at mile marker 1.2 (after you get to the park).

Anyone else notice the blue pants hanging up on shyst? Scared the **** out of me last night... I thought it was a person and almost crapped my pants. Didn't see it until I turned the corner and my light lit it up.

Yep, but at least I passed by the first time in the daylight.

We got dumped on last night....if it stays warm and windy though, I expect it should be good to go by the weekend.

It is actually my friend Ralph who has his heart set on Cameron Park. I was just going along to humor him and because there is a group ride. I would like to be able to say that I did it at least once. Right now I am just looking for a place that won't be wet tomorrow (or Sunday.) Are you wanting to go also? We would enjoy more folks.
